For me, this is probably the weakest of S1. I think EJO did a good enough job directing, but it's just not great material to work with. There are some fun bits in the episode for sure. Baltar is an obvious one, that scene where Starbuck walked in on him "exercising" is gold, and I love how he's just spinning in his chair blissfully staring at the ceiling at the end and nobody notices(or they just don't care anymore). I also always get a chuckle at how Roslin just hands off the bottle of booze without even looking. To be honest though, I think this episode is where people started to sympathize with Tigh a bit more, because Ellen is honestly just a horrible person. Her overt flirting with anyone and everyone within sight, and right in front of her husband, trying to get him to drink on duty(or at all) when he's trying to clean himself up, and the way she barks at him in the corridor when he shows he's not just going to believe every lie she tells him, it honestly pisses me off. Her behaviour certainly lends credence to the rumors about her frequent cheating, and Tigh just seems to accept it. There's one girl on youtube going through the show and she did not like Tigh from the start, insisted he was a cylon and all that.....completely turned around on the character after this ep. What Ellen does to Saul is gaslighting 101, and she clearly had a leading role in dragging him down to where he was in the pilot. At least he has Adama trying to lift him up and keep him on track. The really threw a wet blanket on the cylon detector in this episode though. We know it works, it identified Sharon, but from the sounds of it Baltar is cutting corners to make everyone show up as human, perhaps only doing real tests on people he actually suspects. I guess they didn't want to nerf cylon infiltration too soon. It does seem Helo is starting to question Sharon's identity on some level. On top of all the suspicious events the last few weeks, she's not hiding her superhuman endurance from him. Helo is in plenty good shape, and I'm sure he's got plenty of adrenaline too, but he's ready to pass out from exhaustion. Next ep is one of my favourites. Looking forward to it
