Most people only die once...in this movie alone, Ba'al died four times!

Man, the end of an era. Here's to a possible revival. Onward to the Big P!

So we reach the end of SG1. Can't believe it's been over 3 years since that day when I got so hype about the first episode being posted. SGA will keep going for a bit more, but SG1 was my favorite and it's been such a fun ride re-watching all over again with you! I do remember being a bit disappointed with the post-S8 team and these movies originally, but I enjoyed them more this time around. Would've loved some more RDA in this one, but glad he got to be sassy with Baal one last time :)

A very sad moment, reaching the end. Stargate literally changed my life. The first time I left the country was for a convention (where I toured the SGC). During that trip, I was inspired for what would become my first published novel. I honestly don't know where I would be or what I'd be doing now if it hadn't been for SG-1 guiding me down this writerly path. The only problem with that is it means I've seen these episode so many times I basically have them memorized. I can quote entire scenes, I know backstory and behind-the-scenes stuff, it can make it hard to see the show just for what it is. And for that, I thank you, failwhale34. You gave me a chance to watch these episodes with fresh eyes. You laughed at the best parts. You cried at the emotional parts. You cheered for the wins. You had some bonkers theories that were really fun to see play out (or not). You let me re-experience this show in a way I haven't been able to in YEARS. We've still got a season of SGA to go, but for now... raising a glass to the OGs, the ones who started it all, the show that gave me a job I absolutely love. Kree!

And that's all she wrote. This isn't just a movie, it's a tribute to 10 year of one of the best scifi shows of all time. Ark of Truth wrapped up the ori story and all, but it's wasn't nearly as good as Continuum IMO. Seeing all these old school system lords return, if only briefly, and having the original cast back together was such a good send off for the series. Sure, it could have been longer, Jack could have been in it more, Jonas could have been written into it somehow, and more of Hammond would have been appreciated, but it's still an amazing trip down memory lane. It's also just a very well produced movie for the budget they had. The goa'uld kind of just faded into the background after the defeat of Anubis, with only Ba'al remaining much of a threat, especially after Reckoning. They remain IMO the best villains of the franchise, and it's great to see them in the spotlight again. The way the timeline shifted with things getting deleted bit by bit is pretty odd, but presumably done so they could get rid of Jack, Teal'c and Vala so they wouldn't be pulling double duty in the new timeline, though that could have been interesting, especially that Teal'c seeing a version of himself that has seen the Jaffa freed from the goa'uld. Ba'al was also a perfect choice for the film's antagonist. The late, great Cliff Simon made him easily the most charismatic goa'uld. Also the meeting between Apophis and Ba'al was great because Apophis died(for the last time) before Ba'al was introduced. I always laugh at Ba'al's "did you plan to say that when you walked in, or was it just off the top of your head". It's like a goa'uld dad joke. Lots of great action in this one too, and the fleet and bombardment shots look awesome. Also I really appreciate all the beauty shots of the F-15s. What a phenomenal way to send the SG1 cast off. Definitely wraps that era of stargate on a high note. Lastly, it's mindboggling that it's now been FIFTEEN YEARS since this came out. Where does the time go?

Nice, what a milestone to reach. End of an era, and such a shame they were never able to make that 3rd movie which apparently would have focused on O'Neill.

Dude you hit the nail on the head. I remember waiting every Friday night for Stargate. It was one of the sanctuaries i had in highschool from the life of a nerdy teenager. I saved up for all the DVD box sets (never did get that collectors box) and watched every episode and the commentary so often it would replay in my sleep. I used to drive my parents nuts pointing out the Stargate characters in their shows. It was such a treat to watch Stargate through fresh eyes and ride along like it was the first time. What a ride.

Geonn Cannon

Oh I sold my individual sets to pay for the collector box (which still has a place of pride on my bookshelf). I used to tape the episodes on SyFy, then use a second VCR to re-record them without commercials. So for seasons 6 through 8 or 9, I saw the episodes twice in one night. Got that re-watch out of the way immediately. ;)

Hey everyone, the discord gang are currently working on a list of characters from all of SG1+SGA+Movies for Fail to rank in a tier list/discussion format video when he finishes SGA. If you want to contribute to the list of characters you think would warrant an inclusion, please stop by the #stargate-spoilers channel and check out the list linked there.

Hurray! Now for the SG-1: Revolution movie reaction!! Oh wait, it they cancelled it...

I think this movie warrents a rewatch at some point. And I do wish they gave Sam more screentime in the altenate timeline. Dealing with the loss of Jack. Daniel and Cam got more meaningful scenes. All we saw Sam do was go groceryshopping 🤣. The Fruitloops were a nice callback. I bet she and Jack had many a breakfast over them.

ps RIP Cliff Simon, what a swan song. And what a testament to his character. Really was hoping to see him portray the human host of Ba'al and find out what he's like. Similarly as Vala as opposed to Qetesh... I only got to talk to Cliff once for a hot minute. There's never been a more gracious and charming fella... Really gone too soon.
