Not one of my favorites - I agree with you about the pacing - but not bad for the first of Jonas' firsts. Plus, it put a smile on my face after a long day. Thanks for posting early, and I hope you're enjoying Vancouver!

The visual effect of Jonas ringing the pillar of water is one of my favourite sg-1 effects for some reason, 😅 while not the best paced episode, Jacks acceptance and smile at the end of Jonas always made it a special episode for me, Jonas is great in his own way.

Stef Furness

I've always enjoyed that stellar water effect too, as well as the choice for ninja jaffa.

Now out cover stories of ships crashing aren't gonna work

Daryl

Ninjas! Yo dude, I got a bunch of National Geographic's for you if ya want um? 🤣

Not my favorite, but when I do rewatch, I usually do it for the Alien Conspiracy conversation between Jonas and Teal'c cause it cracks me up. Mostly an episode to get Thor's consciousness back and for Jonas to save the day and show Jack (and himself) that he won't always be completely useless when the opportunity to act presents itself and it's a fine episode for that. Also - by the time Jacob realized he couldn't help Sam and Jack from the flooding, there really wouldn't have been much time I don't think, for them to run down there and plant some C4 to blow the doors and it probably would've killed them anyway (according to Jacob, idk, but they were literally right next to that door so it probably would have). I can see you being a bit confused by that, but it might have been more of Jacob seemingly not freaking out that his daughter was dying, maybe? I always saw that as Selmak helping Jacob with his emotions, though. 🤷‍♀️ I love the next episode though, so I'm excited for tomorrow. :) (actually, I'm always excited, doesn't matter if I don't like the episode or not, seeing if you like it is the point!) And actually, I'm excited for the rest of the season because there just aren't many episodes this season that I straight up don't like.

A little slow-paced as an episode, but I really enjoy it. Especially the interactions between Teal'c and Jonas. You can tell Teal'c has taken him under his stoic alien mentor wing 🤗

Geonn Cannon

Fun fact: Corin Nemec really did all the underwater stuff with one breath. They only had to cut because he dropped one of the discs.

Lady Beyond The Wall

That's awesome. Everytime I see that scene, I'm always really impressed. I'm not the greatest swimmer anyway, but even in my backyard pool if I tried putting something in my mouth while trying to hold my breath I'd be done-zo.

Man, their track record with stealing motherships sucks. I really do like this episode despite a somewhat rushed pace, mostly because Jonas is truly accepted as a part of the team in this one. Jack was giving him a hard time throughout the episode, but that's just O'Neill being O'Neill. We've seen the same thing back in Proving Ground, and that was without the added tension of working with the guy who watched while his best friend sacrificed himself. Still, I always get a smile out of that last scene when Jacob asks about Jonas and O'Neill responds with "ALL members of sg1 present and accounted for", affirming that he truly seen Jonas as part of the team. And lets face it, that underwater segment was badass, and a really cool effect with the column of water. It was the proof O'Neill needed that Jonas wouldn't freeze up under pressure. And just when I was saying we wouldn't have to deal with Jacob and his "slap a USAF sticker on the side" lines, I completely forget about the scene in this ep. Still he was right that having Thor back and owing them a favor is much more valuable than 1 mothership. That said, wouldn't hurt for the asgard to get their hands on one of those to figure out what Anubis did to the shields and weapons. A few notes on the production of this episode, the sets for Anubis' ha'tak seen here and in Revelations were first seen under construction on the set of Wormhole X-Treme. They're a different look and layout from previous ha'tak sets. Also the effect of the water rising when Jack and Sam were trapped in the corridor was achieved by lowering the entire hallway into the Vancouver Olympic pool. Finally in the scene with Jonas and Teal in the truck, if you look carefully Teal'c's Apophis seal is backward(head of the snake on the wrong side). This is because Corin and Chris both shot their scenes in the same seat and the footage of Teal'c was inverted to make it look like they were sitting side by side. Also there's a little in joke I think you picked up on with O'Neill saying something would go horribly wrong just before major Davis walks in. By this point he'd become known in the fandom as Maj. Disaster, and this was an acknowledgement of that trope. Strangely though Teal'c says this is Jonas' first mission, but we see him going through the gate with SG1 at the end of Redemption. I suppose that could have been some sort of orientation or standard recon as opposed to an important mission with a specific objective.

Lady Beyond The Wall

I always like to think on his "first" mission after Redemption was them taking him somewhere really benign and safe, like The Land of Light or something, since no one ever wants to go there and it's safe, so maybe it didn't really count. That's my headcanon anyway, lol.

I was finally able to sit down and watch your reaction. Ty. I have always loved this episode. I like episodes like this, on a Goa'uld ship, in space, or crashing to Earth, it's fun to watch the team outside of the SGC. I personally found this a neat episode, cause it's Thor man, we saved him, now we can put him back in his body, that's huge. Too bad they couldn't save the ship though. Jonas is starting to fit in, he's not as abrasive here as previous. What else is there to say, just a nice self-contained episode.

GhostPhil

I can definitely say that I enjoy Jonas even more with every rewatch.

Just wanted to mention, Jonas doesn't want to be the hero or get acclaim for his actions, he wants to help first and foremost but mainly he wants to redeem himself for what happened to Daniel. He's taking the burden of his faults from the incident and his country which...is a lot. I like his and Teal'cs connection in this and the last episode, and it's nice that Teal'c isn't the new guy or only Earth outsider anymore.

Where is the intro? :D
