Jennifer Badger, the woman who played Vanessa Brewer, was a stunt double for Eliza Dushku, aka Faith. 😊 I really like episode 21. I remember the first time I saw it getting so exciting thinking Lindsey was coming over to Angel and Cordy, Inc. Then when he just says nah nevermind at the end I was genuinely shocked. I think Angel the show handles the grey areas really well.

And the finale. I really enjoy this one. I think it's really well paced, high stakes, and offers an interesting set up moving into season 2. I especially think Charisma Carpenter really did a great job here. She really conveys that agony and pain so well, and it always gets to me.

I love these two episodes. And yes, that is Darla from the first season of Buffy/Angel’s sire.

Brent Justice

It's the same Darla, and same actress.

The Powers That Be weren't slain, just the oracles.

I thought she looked a lot like Faith in certain angles! Didn't know that.

So, some pretty big implications in this episode. "To Shanshu in L.A." get it? "To Live and Die in L.A." hehe, since Shanshu means to live and die at the same time. Big meaning for Angel here, his reward for being a champion is to become human. He already has a soul, the next step would logically to now become human, so he can grow old, have a family, and die like a human. That's pretty major as far as prophecies go. Darla at the end is a big WTF moment, you can tell they are definitely focused on poking at Angel.

What I really enjoy about these 2 eps are that Angel is starting to build it's own mythology as a series. I mean sure some elements like TPTB are added to the Buffyverse, but mostly this series has done smaller scale stories about helping the helpless. Buffy OTOH does the predictable routine of starting a season with a few quiet eps to establish where the team is at before slowly introducing the world ending threat theyll end up fighting. Angel is starting to lay out the groundwork for a larger story arc. Also it great to see how far Cordelia has come. Lindsey seems like he could be a frenemy going forward. He clearly has some morals, just not enough. Really interesting twist bringing Darla back(also no wonder those vampires were hesitant to perform the ritual). Given her past with Angel they are no doubt planning to use her against him in some way.
