*This is a weapon of war, it is made to kill your enemy* P-90 does not get enough love, <3 Great Sci-fi actor that plays Katano, even has me believing every time lmao

the actor nailed k'tano so well

Great episode! I'm always here for the jaffa rebellion. I like that we get to follow a bit of Rak'nor's personal journey as well. Despite several setbacks, they've already come so far from where they were in season one! It's probably my favourite overarching plotline in the show. Thank goodness they let Chris Judge write some of Teal'c episodes! One the best episodes in the show is coming up next season.

The actor that plays K'tano is a regular on Battlestar Galactica. Another awesome show that FailWhale should watch

This is such a top tier episode. Peter DeLuise used some really unique directing and camera techniques to really make that duel pop, and overall this is probably the best choreography and hand to hand fighting in all of SG1. Admittedly there is a bit of a goof where we see Teal'c staff already broken just before K'tano/Imhotep breaks it, but still. And Chris Judge wrote a great story for this episode, but I also have to say Rick Worthy gave an incredibly charismatic performance as well. K'tano could have been some nobody character, but the conviction Rick brings to the screen makes him especially memorable. Even knowing he's a goa'uld, I still get goosebumps listening to his speeches and convincing enemy jaffa to join him just by walking out in the middle of a battle. Even though he gets sketchier as the episode goes on, when he reveals himself as a goa'uld, it feels like such a betrayal because you WANTED to believe in him as this great jaffa leader. Imagine the loyalty a goa'uld could inspire if they brought that same energy to their jaffa. I also feel that while Teal'c saw K'tano as no longer worthy(funny when you think of the actors name) to lead, and indeed a threat to the rebel jaffa, I think he had resigned himself to dying at the hands of another Jaffa. As soon as he revealed himself as a goa'uld though, Teal'c found the strength and resolve to kill him. First because he wasn't going to let some snake take him down, and second because he wasn't going to let his people continue to be deceived by a goa'uld. The martial art the jaffa are using is based heavily on capoeira, which is a Brazilian martial art that sprung up in the 16th century. It was invented by slaves in Brazil who incorporated a lot of dancing and music and acrobatics to disguise it as something other than fighting. Knowing that it's actually very fitting to the rebel jaffa. Also their word for it, mastaba, is actually a type of ancient Egyptian tomb and a sort of precursor to the pyramids. The real Imhotep would likely have built a good number of them. Finally I have to point out that Yu demonstrates here that he's perhaps the most honorable of the system lords. We already know he's one of the few goa'uld who didn't assume the persona of a god, and while he's definitely an enemy, letting Teal'c go out of respect for his convictions is something I can't see any other goa'uld doing.

I always like the list of people we've killed its epic

James Yancy

Actually, Yu does use the god thing like the other Goa'uld, but he's just more low key about it. Of course we also know that he's been the most reasonable of the System Lords. That said, he's still a Goa'uld System Lord and an enemy.

What's great is the theme of revolutions being co-opted by the established power structure. Genius episode. Also I love that Jack can smell a gould from a mile away. Even dressed as an anti-gould revolutionary.

James jackson

Katano plays a dean of a magic university in a show called the magicians thats like an adult americanized harry potter and up there with sg1 in my top 5.

Brent Justice

"This is a weapon of fear and intimidation.....This is a weapon of war for killing your enemy" This is one of my favorite quotes in Stargate and defines the differences between the Goa'uld, and Earth. This is why Earth can be so good at actually taking out the Goa'uld. I also think it was pretty obvious Katano was a Goa'uld, he was definitely acting like it. But pretty smart idea on his part to use the Jaffa in that way.

Timothy Nikiforovs

I don't know if I suspected he was a goa'uld the first time I saw it, or if I was just onboard with O'Neill's suspicion that he was basically trying to become a Jaffa system lord, but one thing's for sure, that reveal where he goes goa'uld voice in Teal'c's ear sends shivers down my spine every time. Love the way he played that role. Also, I just realized, K'tano being this charismatic revolutionary and all had to have the jaffa ladies lined up around the block. Imhotep had to turn down a hell of a lot of 🐱 to maintain his cover.

Ba'alWhale34

Lol no one noticed he didn't have a pouch or never took his shirt off, come on people

Where is stargate

There were several Jaffa among the rebels with Imhotep's symbol on their forehead. How did none of them not know K'tano wasn't who he said he was? Surely the human host of Imhotep was never a first prime. Did Imhotep find a human who looked a lot like his existing first prime, do some plastic surgery on him to make him an even better visual match, them take him as a host? Did he turn his first prime into a human somehow?
