So many drops!?!?! Add a New $50 stargate patreon level so I can inject your reactions into my viens once every 2 days

Stef Furness

It's a Jaffa revenge thing.

Jo

Finally, I can't wait for you to watch the next episodes! They're good

Andrew Dubbel

Rodney is a misogynistic know it all jerk; but, dammit... I love him. He's one of my favorites.

Stef Furness

One of the greatest things about this show - even the worst characters are great. Hell, this whole episode isn't even close to one of my favorites (I rank it around the wormhole episode, I know - unpopular opinion), but it's still so damn good! I actually got excited when I saw all the guest stars listed, and I certainly can't deny how pivotal this episode is.

Such a good episode! I loved Hammond's offer to resign if the delay would help Teal'c live, and the whole team's commitment to save their friend. Lots of fun details and a great reaction, can't wait for the rest of season five, lots of firecrackers ahead!

The first time I saw his character I hated him. But now, he is one of my favorite stargate characters

Brent Justice

They didn't kill Tannith off camera, Teal'c shot him directly in the cockpit at the start of the episode, watch it closely. That's what caused the Alkesh to crash into the gate. BTW, we've seen the Stargate withstand a direct meteor impact in an episode, so it's very robust, the DHD can get destroyed, but the gate itself can withstand huge blasts directly. As for the science of the episode, I really like it. They explain very well here how the DHD has all these safety protocols, this whole issue wouldn't have happened if they had a DHD cause it would power this gate as a fallback to re-integrate Teal'c. Basically, there are over 400 signals, and our patched method of operating the gate ignores like half of them. So there's a lot of functionality our connection doesn't support. Even though we can control the gate, it's far far far less advanced than a DHD. Plus, the DHD does everything wirelessly, power, data, everything is wireless. Basically, they just integrated the event horizon, without connecting a wormhole, and also bypassed the vortex splash, something we've only seen advanced races like the Nox (or future Casandra) do. Loved the political'ness of the episode as well. And oh yeah, we meet McKay for the first time. He is very arrogant in this episode, but can't wait to see how he grows on you.

Rodney McKay! <3

let's not be letting on about stuff that hasn't happened yet. FailWhale doesn't want to know anything at all past the point he's seen

"I didn't shoot you, Jaaaaccckkk". Man you gotta love Maybourne. He tries so hard to endear himself to SG1 nowadays, especially O'Neill. Every time he drawn out his name like that it's like he's saying "come on, I'm on your side now". But yeah I loved this episode and the whole team coming together(well, actually going their separate ways really) to try and get Teal'c back. You got Carter putting her big brain to work and having to deal with a rather annoying little ass of a scientist(I think McKay is just jealous that the only tech he gets to play with is Carter's slo...sparky seconds). I also thought the angle of Daniel being the diplomat with the russians really worked, and that callback to The Tomb was a great moment. Then you have Jack off digging into the NID's underhandedness and getting the solution at the last minute. Also as Justin pointed out, Hammond willing to resign just to buy Carter an hour was a great moment and really speaks to how dedicated he is to his people. Honestly the russians are treated like shit way too much on the show, so it's hard to blame them for pushing for concessions. In the face of a threat like the goa'uld Earth needs to be united anyway. Also always enjoy Col. Chekov. At the end there that face he makes at Daniel is like "you break it, you buy it". Lastly, there was originally going to be a big fight between Tanith and Teal'c, but IIRC they couldn't get the actor, so they just inserted previous footage of him into the cockpit of the al'kesh. Kind of anti climactic that Teal'c just took him out with a single staff cannon blast. I'm sure those things have shields. Maybe he just got cocky and didn't raise them. But yeah, he's toast.

spoilers much! Failwhale just posted a message saying he doesn't want to know anything past the point he's already seen to in the shows/franchises he's watching. If nothing else please edit out the name of the spinoff. Also McKay's first name wasn't revealed here, nor would a first time viewer know he's returning. That might be on the minor side of spoilers and a half dozen comments have already done both, but it's still giving future details away which goes against the primary community guideline. Please be more careful.

Stef Furness

Please delete this. FailWhale *just* posted a request this weekend asking all of us to avoid posting spoilery comments. This is what he meant.

Daniel Thunberg

It's always funny that the guy who plays Siler and gets hurt a lot, is the stunt coordinator

Timothy Nikiforovs

YES!! I forgot to even mention that. O'Neill just tells him to brush it off. The man just had a DHD explode in his face. Then again it was Jack who knocked him over the railing and put him in the infirmary a year earlier, so maybe he just likes seeing him get hurt😂

ANIMEMUSE

I would make a$50 pledge if you could do 3-4 stargate episodes a week

My dude, the next two episodes kick it up another notch, buckle up!

Stef Furness

Sam got so mad at McKay's dumb blonde content she left her blue jello behind. =(

brad hawkes

Colonel Chekhov <3 so badass. Funny in the face of goauld occupation we’re still distrustful of the ruskies lmao 😂 , this is where SG1 finds its stride, next episodes are all gold. I wish I could watch them all for the first time.

MrEvers

Tanith was in the cockpit that Teal'c blew up at the start, though it was a "blink and you'll miss it" moment

Indeed

This episode does a great job at highlighting the gap in knowledge that has developed between the Tok'ra and the Go'a'uld since their separation. If a weak no name had this knowledge, but the Tok'ra high council didn't, it doesn't bode well for them
