A serious going theory is that it was Hama's unique prison break that caused the hunt for Katara as a child after rumors of a new southern Water Tribe bender emerging, which led to Katara's mother's death. Hama seriously freaked the Fire Nation out with her Blood Bending.

so there seems to be an advanced form to all bending types. Firebenders can learn lightning bending, earthbenders can use metal bending, and water benders can learn bloodbending, which definitely moves water benders way up the power ranking. Wonder what advanced technique air benders can learn?
