I actually really like this episode, but I do sort of see what you mean about it not being quite as good as the other Halloween ones. It's missing that wow factor, but I'd have no idea how they would fix that or why it feels that way. There was still a lot to love, though. Among other things, Anya's bunny costume is iconic. LMAO And Oz's going as God, represented only by the name tag, is worth watching any amount of badness. Did you notice the little five second part where they showed those same guys in the fatigues that they showed at the end of episode one for the season? Buffy saw them and thought they were costumes, but we know there's more to that based on the end of this season's opener. I love when the show does little things like that. EDIT: I left the part about the soldiers while I was watching and forgot to take it out once I heard you mention them. My bad. Even if I hated this episode, and even if you somehow totally fell off your game in the reaction (which I didn't, and you didn't) the whole reaction would have been worth it just for the one part when Xander said about Parker, "Does anyone else just wanna smack that guy?" and everyone, including you, put up their hands. LOL *Raises hand* Sad Buffy makes my heart hurt. Me no likey. :(

I do prefer Halloween as an episode, but my appreciation of this episode has increased on rewatch. The characters' new fears compared to in Nightmares shows the maturation of the show and the characters (Willow going from public speaking to losing control, Xander from clowns to getting left behind, etc). It's also fun to spot just how early on the others stop seeing/hearing Xander. It's so obvious on rewatch.

At 19:11, SG-13 just playing it cool when they run into a bunch of college kids. Training, man. I do like how this episode played to each of their fears and insecurities, pretty clever in that regard. Also Anya is Goddamn adorable in this episode, not just because of that ridiculous costume, but also because of how concerned she is for Xander. One of my favourite moments was when Giles said "we're going to have to create a door", and you just assume it's gonna be some kind of spell, till he pulls out the chainsaw. That and the "actual size" bit. But that ending though. I felt kind of bad for the demon though. Willow should have taken him home and let him hand out with Amy. He'd have the little wheel to run on for exercise and everything.
