I might often bring along many of my preconceived notions of this show that stopped me from watching it for years. So I'll acknowledge that up front. But I'm still hoping for that moment that wins me over. But alas episodes like this one and the season 1 finale aren't helping with that goal. I will praise the fact that it continues to leave me bemused as to where the show might be going long term. But the unfortunate flip side of that benefit is it can leave me drifting off at times.

Watching for the first time, hoping the phase lasts a while. Is Arthur deliberately shirtless for Merlin’s benefit? Because that’s how it seemed to me in this episode. Or have I misread the subtext?

This is one of those shows that I liked enough to watch all the episodes, but not so much as to watch it again. Apparently, it left very little impression on me because I remember almost nothing about the plot. I do love Anthony Stewart Head and John Hurt though. lol.

Oh it lasts a while I think it was more a case of the producers giving us what we want to see As for if it's for Merlin's benefit, well that depends what fanfiction you read, lol.
