I always loved this episode, because it opens the door that "there's more enemies than just apophis". Also earth can't change it's stargate address, because it's a point in space. To change the address, you would have to move the planet's location to another part of space.

Dude I need more Stargate reactions xD

Wasn't expecting this today and am very glad you uploaded it!

Hey, 2 for 1. Good stuff. And funny enough I was just thinking your Satan impersonation in the last Buffy vid sounded like a goa'uld. Regarding changing Earth's gate address, the only way to do that would be to move Earth itself. They covered in the movie and pilot that a gate address is based around points in space, which is why they have to calculate stellar drift to make the Abydos gate addresses work. Even if they swapped to using the Antarctic gate, all that would change is their point of origin symbol, but dialing in would be the same. What I love about Serpent's Song is how we see a whole mosaic of reactions from the various people in regards to Apophis' fate. The Tok'ra have zero sympathy, and seemingly no regard for the fact the host is suffering as well. Teal'c is savoring every bit of his demise. Jack is clearly happy to see Apophis go down but also doesn't want to give into that side so much, and I get the sense he just wanted the whole thing over with. Sam seemed more uncomfortable with the whole situation than anything. Hammond was purely professional ("you're not in any position to demand anything, sir"). Fraiser was being a doctor through and through and wasn't going to let someone even as bad as Apophis change how she treated a patient(I love that about Fraiser). Most interesting though was Daniel being torn between his absolute hatred for Apophis for taking his wife and brother in law, and his clear sympathy for what the host has been through. That's the other interesting thing about this episode. We don't often stop and think that the host is a prisoner in their own body being forced to watch the atrocities the goa'uld controlling them commit. In this case for at least a couple thousand years. It's horrifying. What's worse is knowing that after seemingly finding peace after all that he's just gonna get revived again to be tortured by Sokar. I like to think that whatever was left of the host stayed dead for his own sake. really enjoyed how this one built things up. One False Step. This one ends up on a lot of people's worst episodes lists. Even early S1 was putting out better stuff than this. I do like the scene where O'Neill and Daniel are sitting in the infirmary saying a whole lot of nothing to each other. Not the first or last moment like that on the show. Fraiser has in fact been offworld before. Back in the episode where they found Cassandra. What I don't really buy is that if one of those plants being wrecked can make the whole system collapse, how has it not happened already. There's a gate, people could come through any time. Even aside from that, you could have meteorites, or lightning, or hail, wild animals eating the plants, etc..

One False Step is one of those eps, lol, you either hate it or love it.

Something I can not say enough of is how stunning Peter Williams is as Apophis in this episode. As much as I love his over the top bad guy routine this guy has some serious acting chops and I wish he was in more stuff. I especially love how you can see when he is the host without even neeeding a word.

Timothy Nikiforovs

He's actualy been in a lot of stuff, but Apophis is probably his most enduring role. Mostly guest starring stuff. But yeah, he's a pretty versatile actor.

William Sevier

I love these reactions. I watched this series growing up and it is one of my favorites. I really hope you make it through the whole series and give the spinoffs a chance as well

Amy Appleyard

One False Step is such a ridiculous episode! Hahaha The only good parts are with Jack and Danielhaha

Stef Furness

I've always had a soft spot for One False Step, but I, uh, also talk to my plants, and am super fascinated by the role vibrations play in our interconnectivity to the micro and macro worlds.

Ugly Pig

Honestly, it's just straight up boring outside of the aforementioned Jack and Daniel interaction. I think the problem is that the stakes are low for our heroes (if the aliens die, SG-1 will.... feel really bad, I guess) and the aliens themselves aren't compelling enough for the viewer to truly care about them. Easily the worst of the season for me, and definitely in the bottom five for the series as a whole.

Teth

Aah, One False Step, the ugly step-child of episodes. But I think it's good to occasionally see the team struggling with trying to help societies that are so far outside of our understanding that they just end up making things worse. Also we have some fun scenes between Jack and Daniel here, and Daniel's UAV impression. I wonder if these aliens could be distantly related to the Nox. Both look humanoid but aren't human, and they have healing abilities that are connected to nature in some way.

Ray Nothnagel

I think it's more "you either hate it or you think, eh, it's interesting". Not sure anyone really loves it.

accelangel

notice wayyyyyy less dumpster fire episodes in season 2 compared to season 1 hahaha, just gets better and better

accelangel

that being said, 19 was so bad lol

Timothy Nikiforovs

"I wonder if these aliens could be distantly related to the Nox" Maybe, if the Nox were the sibling that graduated from Harvard and founded a fortune 500 company while these guys were the one that failed 6th grade, lives in their parents basement at 45, and has a part time job walking around with a sandwich board. Lol

Fanny H.

I actually like Episode 19. It's a light episode that I really enjoyed.
