Yup, Matt Lucas appeared in this way before Doctor Who - I believe this aired just prior to Doctor Who's 50th, hence the convention for Inspector Spacetime

A cameo you missed was Trisha Helfer, the woman Jeff was flirting with. She has a major role in another great sci-fi series, Battlestar Galactica (2004 re-boot specifically). Hope you get around to react to that one day! Otherwise you pretty much nailed the season 4 "feel". It's so close, but somethings just slightly off. It's not entirely bad, just more "generic" sitcom and disappointing compared to the great writing of the earlier seasons.

There's only one episode I think actually feels like the preceding seasons... episode 8. Not a great episode of Community, but Community nonetheless.

You nailed it with Jeff. He feels the most off. Characters like Troy and Britta can stand out without strong writing because they're so over-the-top that their physical comedy can often make up for underwhelming lines. Jeff, however, is all about the lines. Without them, he's just some guy with a shitty attitude.

Since Dan Harmon isnt showrunning the series for this season, you may notice each character start to become like alternate versions of themselves. Without Harmon, the show is definitely different. This season starts to feel like a fan fiction version of Community. Jeff, annie and pierce are showing the noticeable changes so far. Before coming on to the series, the showrunners for this season barely knew anything about community.

The set work is awful like ffs its like a Lazer Tag room, Poor Jeffs character its sinful what they did with him and his arc.
