So this was an episode that happened. I think that most Stargate fans prefer to ignore that this episode and the character of Hathor even exists. It's just terrible, no matter how you look at it. But at least you have much better things to look forward to after this mess.

This one is a Kooky one for me. Not sure if I'd personally prefer to pretend that either the character or episode doesn't exist because it does have a few world building elements. But I'd be happy to lose most of what surrounds those parts honestly and have them in a completely different story. The stupid bit that annoys me the most, oddly, is when Hathor rises out of the water she is bone dry and when they take Jack out he is obviously soaking wet. Clearly it's just the footage in reverse but it still makes absolutely so sense to me lol. This one was actually included again in the season 2 boxset as a bonus. Not much of a bonus I always thought. 🤣

The reason it was included in the (European) season 2 set was because season 1 did not originally get a full release in Europe but a "best of" DVD containing only the pilot and last few episodes of the season. So when "Hathor" and another season 1 episode were included on the last disc of season 2, it was the first time they were released on DVD in Europe.

I wouldn’t say this episode is terrible, it’s just very dated, several events in this episode would simply not be able to be done today, or at least would be done a hell of a lot differently and not just gloss over certain uncomfortable aspects. This episode really just shows that this season was written in the late 90’s.

For the first time(but not the last) EVERYONE'S compromised..... except Teal'c, Teal'c is pretty hard to compromise. It's a shame the sarcophagus got blown up though. A lot of times they could have used it. Still, I guess it would make things too easy every time there's a disease or serious injury. One of my least favourites from S1, and it hasn't aged well. The whole conversation about the women not fitting in with the guys felt really out of place in a series where the opposite was always true. Nobody ever treated Carter or Fraiser different because they were women. There was some lore building, but Hathor was never that interesting as goa'uld go(she hot though).

James Yancy

The Goa'uld don't need their hosts to procreate, but using the host's DNA just helps to increase the odds of the Goa'uld being able to take over the host species and prevent rejection, which is rare but more common without the use of the host's DNA.

I dont know if any one else has posted this; How come Teal'c couldn't use the sarcophagus to heal up his pouch as well? Just remove Junior and jump into the box.
