the review was really accurate, lot of setup, multiple concepts for future stuff, u made me rewatch the show on my own actually, current in season 2, u have a lot of good episodes to look forward to, some shit ones but, a lot of good ones too, hahahaha, enjoy

Yes, this is a lore heavy setup episode. ANd there are many more to come. However, I still wish you had seen the movie first, before stuff like this, because the lore in SG1 is far expanded from what the movie shows, and what we learn in this series expands upon the movie in great ways, it would be nice if you were able to compare and see what has been expanded versus what we learned in the movie. The movie was much more contained in scope. But then more things will make sense to you when seen on screen, like the symbol for Earth which is shown a lot and so forth, if you watch the movie first. I do hope you watch the movie asap, and then the lore expanding stuff in the series will make a lot more sense. For example, the fact that they think the Stargates were not built by the Goa'uld mentioned in this episode is a really big deal, but in the movie the thinking was that it was the Goa'uld who built them, and there were only 2 gates, one on Earth and one on Abados. So the movie IMO is very important to watch, then you'll get all the expanded lore in the series will be more impactful.

Yeah, you should really watch the Stargate (1994) film since the tv show expands from it.

Glad you enjoyed this one and see it for what it is. It is a universe building episode. There are more like this and then others where the steaks are higher. What I do love a lot about the show is when the four main characters challenge each other. It makes for some great interactions and often quite thought provoking exchanges.

I enjoyed this episode because of it's introduction to the Asgard race and Thor. It's funny, I recently decided to watch Stargate SG-1 again and made it all the way up to season 4 by the time you started reacting to season 1. I had no qualms whatsoever about having to rewatch it again and immediately became a member so that I could watch them. I can never have too much Stargate. The next episode is in my top ten favorites list and I can't wait to see your reaction to it!

Hope you stick with it, subbed for Stargate. Its one of these series that could do with less filler, but its totally worth by the end. Only gets better. Keep in mind CGI technology is also advancing rapidly during this show's run, so you'll see that element get leagues better over time.
