Our first poll is complete! Our Siberspace campaign will focus on the crew of Dragonhawk, and Wayfinder will be our sister ship. Our captain (and first player character) is the Frog Prince of Aundair, a Glamour bard. In further news, I've decided we'll start characters at 6th level for this campaign; you are an exceptional crew drawn from Aundair's best and brightest.

With that in mind, we're going to establish details about the brightest member of our crew. The Magister of the Celestial Mysteries (did I mention that Breland makes fun of Aundairian titles?) is the chief arcane scientist of the ship. Along with the Arbiter, the Magister helps to maintain its systems, and they are arguably the most important member of the mission, which after all is to wrest knowledge from the stars. Given that this is Aundair, the most logical class for this character is Wizard... but what sort of wizard are they?

  • A Diviner is the straightforward option, given that the mission is about the pursuit of knowledge; a Diviner Magister would have ties to the Guild of Moonlight and Whispers
  • A Chronurgist would be a more exotic option, reflecting a wizard who's studied the Draconic Prophecy. Note that THEY wouldn't call themselves a Chronurgist, as they see their magic as being more about destiny than time.
  • A Conjurer from the Guild of Endless Doors would like to see a web of teleportation gates connecting the worlds.
  • On the other hand, we could take an unexpected direction and make them a Maverick Artificer

Beyond that, what's the background and species of our Magister? Here's three paths to choose from.

  • The Legend. A former classmate of Mordain the Fleshweaver, this elf has been part of the Arcane Congress for centuries and made a number of important discoveries. However, for the last century they’ve been a virtual hermit—working in isolation at the Starpeaks Observatory, studying the Ring and the challenges of space travel. In their isolation they made a discovery about space, something that plays a vital role in the Dragonhawk Initiative. The Legend is here for science, not adventure; science holds an answer to everything. Also, they have a staff older than you are. (High Elf Hermit)
  • The Legacy. The pride of Aundair rests on the Dragonhawk Initiative; small surprise that Queen Aurala wants a member of the royal family on the mission. Wrey ir’Wynarn has been appointed as the Magister of this vessel, while her twin sister Wrel is the Magister of the second vessel. There’s no question that Wrey has been assigned to this mission because of her blood; the Crown expects a lot of scry-ops and for her to act as the face of Aundair. But Wrey isn’t just a Wynarn; she’s worked hard in Arcanix and intends to prove that she’s a worthy Magister in her own right—not just a legacy. This would also give us a ship with a Princess and a Frog Prince...(Human Noble)
  • The Soldier. While this is a scientific mission, arcane science is the key to Aundair’s military and many of its finest wizards served in the war. The Soldier led arcane bombardments and survived countless engagements; they understand the military applications of magic and will be keeping an eye out for strategic opportunities. They’re here for science, but they’re ready for violence—and they intend to make sure the rest of the crew is, as well. (Half-elf Soldier)

For new patrons, drop by the Threshold Discord if you want to discuss the campaign. You may also want to join the Kanka Campaign Site; it's tied to the Frontiers campaign, but it's a chance to see the previous campaign, and we will be returning to Threshold after our trip to Siberspace. Thanks for your support!
