My latest IFAQ answers two questions related to language: How did we develop the names of the overlords, and how would I handle alignment languages?

In the article, I mention the idea of pointy-talkies -- cards designed to help soldiers, emergency service providers, and people in similar roles communicate with people who don't share a language with them. When I was developing Phoenix: Dawn Command we thought that Phoenixes should DEFINITELY have a pointy-talkie, so they could quickly ascertain the nature of a threat. If you look below, the upper right quadrant identifies the origin of the threat: Undead? Chanters? Fallen Folk? Puppies? The lower right establishes the nature of the threat (Fire? Haunting? Swords?) The lower left quadrant lets you choose the scope of the threat (One? A few? A lot?) and adds elements (It's a book!) The upper left reflects the six schools of the Phoenixes themselves, though it can also reflect a type of challenge (Talking? Fighting? Sneaking?) I figured I'd share it here for funsies.

Thank you again for your support, and for keeping the blog going!

IFAQ: Creating Languages

My new book Exploring Eberron is available now on the DM's Guild. You can find a FAQ about it here . I am currently working on a longer article about the Nobility of Khorvaire, but as time permits I like to answer interesting short questions from my supporters, so here's one from Samantha: How do you pick the names for the Overlords?

This type of addition is perfect for patreon backed additional content! I dont expect these sort of premade commissioned art from every article but I like the idea of a small companion piece to an article (like the bonus table cut from ExE).

The guy who burned down your temple was searching for the Book of Evil Bees?

No, we burned down the library because it was infested with bugs. But fortunately, we put the soul of your wife into a magic wand.
