A follow-up to the previous Past Mortem, in this episode we break down the numerous attempts of Oscar-nominated producer/filmmaker Guillermo del Toro to make a video game. Poor guy, he just wants to make a video game!

This video will be exclusive to Patreon until Thursday morning! We just put out another video last week so there's no rush for another one.

Note: Sorry for the timely posting here, I was hoping to have this posted a while ago. my laptop has been under the weather and exporting this video took several hours when it usually takes less than 1.

I can't hear audio from the interview that starts around 3:50. Watching on mobile. Am I the only one?

it's audio from the interview, it's del toro swearing a lot. it's recorded really crudely and sounds weird. i actually tried to fix it but it was beyond my abilities and i didn't think it would be a big deal. welp, now i know!

He should do a Firefly game just to see if its possible to get double cancelled. So frustrating. I bet he could be involved in something really special.

Fantastic idea! Can't wait to watch. I remember way back reading in a magazine about the first game he was involved in, and then it's cancelation. I don't remember much about it, but I do remember having an interest in it. Was disappointed it was cancelled. Anyway, thank you.

Oh man, I didn't know about Sundown. Sounds a lot like a game idea I've had, except I was thinking of it more as an isometric RPG survival. At least light RPG mechanics in that, overtime, your characters would get better at their skill. A cop character for example would begin to adapt to shooting shuffling zombies in the head. Not that it's hard to shoot a slow moving target, but zombies move in a way that is very different from how a normal person moves. Thus the character would have to change and adapt. Nurse or doctor characters would get better at first aid by studying what they can of the zombie virus and how it works. This would improve their ability to treat zombie bites and scratches. There's a reason why skilled characters would level up their skills since, despite their high level of training, they're in a completely different situation with new obstacles they've never faced. I also thought it could be a multiplayer co-op game, and when you and your friends all first start playing, your distance from each other in the real world would dictate your distance from each other in the game. If you and a friend are in the same state, then you would both start in the same town together, though maybe on oposite ends. Indifferent states? Then you'll start in different towns. And the first real goal of the game would be to survive and meet up somewhere together. I have a lot of ideas, but I've kind of highjacked the thread with my own BS. Sorry.

Good guy Guillermo.
