First, all PAM17 stream edits have been posted on the SSFF Live playlist (LINK) and all Patreon posts have been updated.
Tonight at 6:00 PT we will be having a multiplayer meet-up with Killing Floor 2. We'll be playing the PS4 version with is a free download on PSN+ this month. We'll have a discord link so everyone can participate in voice chat! If you can't make it to the meet-up, I definitely suggest you pick this game up. I've been playing it every night after work preparing for tonight and I've been having a ton of fun.
Finally, it's time for Punching Weight to return to first person shooters. The Doom ports episode from last year was a popular video and I'd like to do another one BUT there's other big-name FPS' out there! I've got 3 videos planned out and we want you to vote! Here's the pitches,
1) Doom 2 Ports | PS1 / Saturn / GBA - Interesting thing, GBA andXBLA were the only straight Doom 2 console ports. Unlike original Doom with got a million ports! This would be an excuse to talk about the wonderful PS1 port again, but also directly compare it to the Saturn port (which is SHOCKINGLY terrible). And then show that the GBA is somehow superior to both (and give a shout out to Doom 64 for having a totally original campaign)
2) Quake Ports | Quake Saturn / Quake N64 / Quake 2 PS1 - Saturn Quake is pretty goddamn good yall! And I just picked it up last month at Too Many Games so I'm itchin' to talk about it. The people that made Saturn Quake wanted to port it to the PS1 but couldn't find anyone to fund them. Strangely enough, a PS1 port of Quake 2 eventually came out and surprise-surprise, it's good. And Quake 64 is kinda terrible but features an original score from Aubry Hodges who did the music for the PS1 and N64 Dooms.
3) Duke Nukem 3D Ports | PS1 / Saturn / N64 - There weren't that many games that came out for the three big 5th generation consoles, but Duke 3D was one! (C&C, Hexen, MK Trilogy, and a bunch of Puzzle Bobble games were the others btw) And hey, Saturn Duke 3D is pretty goddamn good yall! This would be a great video because I know at least the N64 and Saturn version have their own exclusive levels and each of the three games handles censorship in a different way. It would make for a good pairing, so we would tackle the GBA, Genesis, and Tiger GameCom ports in a different video.
One more thing, we haven't been able to get Jaguar and 3DO emulation working in a satisfactory way yet, so revisiting Doom 1 or tackling Wolfenstein 3D will have to sit on the back burner for now.
We're polishing up the Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death script, we plan on starting this Punching Weight episode next week, so get voting!
Thanks as always for the support!
