First off just want to say y'all are Fking awesome. I was sitting my my stupid little hospital gown reading the messages and comments and just know I'll never be able to express how grateful I am for this group and the community we have! I'm back home now and vibing with Freya tonight- going to go visit some family out of state this week and just reset for a bit!

Second - Jacob mentioned creating a post for everyone to post and share plays if they wanted to this week so please feel free to use the comments on this post to do that if you want to! Can start different comment threads and feel free to post any looks if you have!

Third - I had already written up 3 articles in advance for upcoming games this week, including 2 UCL games and 1 Women's World Cup - I'm sure they'll get posted next week but wanted to get these to y'all still!  I also had written a Women's World Cup Future article! I've attached the word docs for the three articles and I'm posting the future article in text below for those that want to partake!

I'm clocking out. Thank you again for being supportive and understanding throughout this all. Only a month until we have Germany, Turkey, and so much more back! Love y'all!

Here are the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup futures picks from Jon Eimer (published 7/12/23):

  • USA and France to win their groups (-105)
  • Germany to reach the semifinals (+135)
  • USA to win the World Cup (+225)
  • England to win the World Cup (+450)

As we all prepare for another World Cup with the hopes of the USWNT finding victory once again, the unfortunate truth is that a lot of the major forces in this competition will be without star players. Many a nation are experiencing injury problems right now, and it's imperative we be aware of the impact missing players will have for these top squads.

With the USWNT being the favorites, England coming off their 2022 Euros success, Germany always ready to fight, a solid Spain squad and more, we're still in for an incredible tournament, with many a bet to be had along the way. Let's proceed cautiously but look at some tasty future bets in the process.

USA and France To Win Their Groups (-105)

We're going to start off with a parlay as we take two group favorites to do what's expected. The first leg of this parlay is the easy one for me. Team USA should win their group outright, and there's no reason to believe they won't. With a group that includes a decent Netherlands side and two nations that are making their tournament debuts in Portugal and Vietnam, the expectation is for the reigning champions to dominate. I don't see the USWNT dropping any points in this group and expect a clean sweep.

Meanwhile, France are in a bit of a more challenging group, with their top competitor being Brazil, as they only are separated by three spots in the rankings. Jamaica and Panama basically are nonexistent in this group. With France expected to run through those two squads, it comes down to how they perform against the Brazilians. I think it'll be close, but I give the edge to France to win the group, and parlayed with the USWNT, we get a very playable line.

Germany To Reach The Semifinals (+135)

I know, I know - my Germany bias is showing. Just like in the Men's World Cup, where I was thoroughly let down, I'm once again backing Germany to go far in this competition. The women's team will be looking for some redemption after a poor showing by the men's squad, and their recent form backs their ability to make a very deep run in this competition.

The group stage should be no problem as the Germans are -5000 to qualify from their group and -2000 to win it, but looking at their experience, they're capable of throwing punches with the biggest names in this competition. They made it all the way to the 2022 Euro final after allowing a total of one goal in consecutive victories against Spain, Finland, Austria and France before dropping a 2-1 decision to England. Expect this team to look to make it to the semis, at the very least.

USA To Win The World Cup (+225)

This is not an incredibly unique or sexy take, but the USWNT are the favorites for a reason as they go for their third consecutive World Cup title. Even with players like Mallory Swanson, Catarina Macario and defensive powerhouse Becky Sauerbrunn missing from the lineup, this is a squad that's unbelievably stacked with talent and experience and entering this competition in incredible form, having captured another SheBelieves Cup by winning all three of their matches - including a 2-1 win against Brazil in their finale.

Looking ahead at their potential route to the final, they really shouldn't have any strong competition until the semis, if the odds play out. With a schedule that presents the opportunity to even rest some players in order to maintain form, consider putting a sprinkle on the USWNT winning a third straight crown.

England To Win The World Cup (+450)

I cannot emphasize the importance of England's success prior to this tournament. Having won multiple trophies already this season, including the UEFA Women's Euro 2022  and the 2023 UEFA-CONMEBOL Women's Finalissima, momentum is moving in the right direction for this fierce squad.

Like the USWMT, England have a relatively easy path until the semifinals, where there is a realistic chance they'll have to face Germany in a rematch of the Euro final. If they get through that, a final matchup against the USWNT potentially looms. Expect complete and utter dominance until that point, even though they also are missing a few key players. We can keep a close eye on them as the competition moves on, but this is a side that means business.
