Development update #8 (About 0.21) (Patreon)
Content
Whatup.
Figured I'd do an update since my goalposts for 0.21 have changed a bit, and I like being transparent. If you're active in the discord, it's possible you already know all of this, but I can't remember exactly which things I have or haven't talked about.
Firstly, the main thing. I don't think there's any way I'm actually gonna get 0.21 done before the end of the year without cutting corners. Cutting corners is dumb, and I don't wanna do it, it'll most likely be early next year. (I'm still aiming for the end of this year, but I'm trying to be realistic)
The reason for this is that although it's not as long as 0.2, this update contains a long scene for Sasha which is a lot more complicated to make than any previous scene. It's taking a long time, and I have to get it right. It'll also contain a lengthy scene for Riley, but I haven't started it yet, and I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near as complicated to make as Sasha's scene. (There are other scenes too, but the Sasha and Riley scenes are the main ones really.)
So yeah, sorry about that. Here's a random screenshot of part of what I'm working on. If you've been following the story (Or again, are active in the discord) you can almost certainly guess what scene this is part of.
This coming update will also mark the first time since the start of development that I've had a real way to put the patreon money back into the project. Aside from the hand holding the walkie-talkie, everything else in the screenshot is a paid asset that I bought, and then converted to a honey select mod specifically for this scene. There's other stuff too, but you'll see those later. Sometimes there just isn't an existing mod for what's needed in the scene, so thanks for your support everyone :D
Aside from that, I've started background work on a section of the game that I'm not expecting to be released until probably 2024. (Again, discord users may know what this is)
It's planned to be massive, so I gotta start work now if there's to be any hope of it actually ending up in the game. I'm focusing on the main game, but after working on that for too long in one day it's possible to get burned out, and luckily this other section is so different that I can just swap to that for a bit, and then burnout doesn't happen. I have outsmarted my brain. Checkmate, me.
Sorry again about the projected delay, but if I start trying to rush development, I'm 100% sure I wouldn't be happy with the end result. (And in all likelyhood, neither would you guys)
Anyway, have a good week :D
