BEHIND THE SCENES: BURNBOT'S PRECURSOR (Patreon)

A few years ago I was conceptualizing characters for a "singing animatronic" restaurant. It would be in a similar vein to Showbiz Pizza or Chuck E Cheese, but for an older audience. The animatronics would sing and do comedy bits like Showbiz, but there would be more hard rock songs, flashing lights and the comedy would be a little more risque and have light swearing. It wasn't necessarily a concept I was taking super seriously or planned to follow up on, but the idea was incredibly fun to me. It's not as if I actually know how to run a restaurant or build robots so it was more of a fantasy than anything else. 

The characters had robot bodies, but old CRT monitors for heads, which would display footage of 2D animated faces. 

Anyway, I was looking through some old concept art and I noticed one of them looked remarkably like Burnbot! The blush on the cheeks, the bob curls, even the flower placement is the same. This sassy lady was called "Sarah Screenly", but I guess it's undeniable: I have some kind of fascination with characters with screens for heads.

Burnbot was actually a last minute addition to Brain Dump. For the longest time during the planning stage, It was only going to be me and Goofball. I'm glad I thought of her in time to get her in, people have responded to the character super well and now it's hard to imagine Brain Dump without her!
