Trigger warning: sexual assault
It pains me to have to deliver this message to you, having heard it enough from fellow non-men in the scene. I also hope not to be preaching to the choir.
I was victim of sexual assault by a very high-standing and powerful person in the scene. The incident was born from a breach of mutual respect, until the perpetrator decide to act upon assumptions of my boundaries. The next day I was called by the perpetrator, who proclaimed innocence and threatened me with his continued lack of taking accountability of this sort of actions. Ego and toxicity came into full display.
Not disclosing any more details I am trying to get the message across that sexual misconduct of all extents is a brutal reality of the music/entertainment industry. Going forward I am aiming to build resilience, heal from the ordeal, and raise awareness where necessary. All of this is underway in private, with individuals I trust. The show must go on, but this does not mean at all that I am proceeding with inaction.
What this means for you: I have taken the past week on involuntary leave, focusing on damage control and cutting off the perpetrator. It has been very difficult, but there are still many things in music I want to talk about and show you on Patreon, including a series of sessions on key techniques in my repertoire. If I am unable to make a new tutorial session for this week I will be doing it next week. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
