Riley & Buffy finally face their issues in this episode & Oh My Days what a scene it was - hell - what an episode it was! So intense & the scene between Xander and Buffy was so strong too! I didn't expect that moment from Xander but it was so interesting & the scene with him and Anya after - OMG!!! My heart!!! I cant even. This season is fantastic, I just wanna watch mooooore!

5 months later... There's a small moment that says so much that I wanted to bring up. When Buffy is running out of the vamp house after seeing Riley, Spike says that he thought she would know. This is Spike pretty much wanting credit, wanting to be seen as the good guy in Buffy's eyes. But she wordlessly then runs away and the camera stays on Spike's face and you see it change. You see the realization that what he did just hurt her and it bothers him. It feels like an important moment in Spike's journey to me but I've never seen anyone talk about it. You're much more fair about Riley and Xander than I have ever been during this episode, but I won't rant about them here. Great reaction/analysis, as usual. :)

Interesting! I've always interpreted that look as disappointment that he wasn't getting the bonus points with Buffy that he expected. Like, I never perceived that he genuinely cared about Buffy's feelings in that moment, but that he was more upset that he didn't get what he wanted out of it. I'm not saying either interpretation is right or wrong. I just like seeing how two people can see the exact same expression and perceive it so differently!

had some stuff goin on, so i'm late to the party and keep it short :P. For me there's two best things in this episode. One is Xander. This is really what Xander is. he sees what's going on when other people don't. This episode imo really shows his character's growth through the seasons. The second part is Buffy when talking with Xander. How she's able to flip a switch with her emotions when she realises she's going to lose Riley. Tbh, thats the first moment I saw chemistry towards Riley from Buffy since sometime in season 4. And Riley wasn't even there. I agree with you, and think its good that Buffy can sit with these feelings for a bit. Might help her in the long run. Yes thats me keepin it short, you know me :P.
