Big episode for Eleanor here! Life changing some might say. Her views have completely changed from her first experience on Earth (such a strange sentence haha). Seeing her Mum did spark some old school Eleanor vibes but the fact of the matter is, she has grown so much as a person to accept change & not be focused on her own personal gains. Tahani also went through some self reflection & revelations whilst seeing her Sister again. Michael also revealing that Chidi & Eleanor had a relationship in one of the timelines. Great episode!

My heart broke for both Eleanor and Tahani in this episode. The way that Eleanor was able to step back at the end and give her Mum the good advice she gave, when she was feeling the pain of not having inspired that same personality change in her, was for me, one of the biggest indicators of Eleanor’s personal growth. She’d done other kind things before like return that guys wallet, but this was a personal hurt and injustice against her and she was still able to recognise what the right thing was and act on that with sincerity even if it still made her sad. Tahani had an amazing revelation too with her sisters art, and I do think she had it right. If you look at the way it was multiple representations of two images closer together with two smaller images far apart, it is a mirror image of the flashback where the parents sat together on the couch and Tahani and her sister where at opposite easels from each other on the far corners of the room. It’s not enough that her parents manipulated her and did untold damage to her self esteem (she never felt like she was enough), but they basically pitted her against the person who otherwise would have been her biggest ally.

The relationship between Michael and Eleanor is always amazing. The demon and the self-described trash bag from Arizona have been able to understand each other throughout the series in a way that no other character can. And it is always worth remembering that Ted Danson and Kristen Bell are the only two cast-mates who knew the twist from the very beginning.
