I loved this episode seeing Kate again was great and unravelling more layers to her character is enjoyable too. I felt for her in regards to her parents. Let's hope she has some great friends to step in to the comfort & caring spot. This ep was great though, fav so far for me. It had emotion, laughs & action, it's a yes from me!

Obviously she wasn't in her right mind and stuff she would never say started spilling out but I do think the "you've never even told me I look pretty" line makes sense as a lot of what Kate is bringing up is the loss of normal father daughter stuff from her childhood and the lack of gentleness and affection from him. She brings up her mothers death and the kindness showed to her by her friends mom so it's obvious she really missed that feminine presence in her life. Then she shows up to his party all dressed up, put the effort in, and the only thing he has to say to her (about her really as he kind of ignores her and talks to Angel) is "it's good to see her with a guy because I was starting to think shes a lesbian" which is why I think it was on her mind. He's so closed off that he cant even give her a simple compliment.

Like seeing Kate with Angel. They have a good dynamic. Maybe Kate was put in the show because it was expected at the time (and probably still now) to have some kind of love interest for the lead of a show. But I think they could work really well as friends ,too. And I like that Doyle, even infuated with Cordy as he is, can see her as a whole, flaws and all. It says something about him, it shows us that he is more then a shifty character he so obviously is. But like you said, there are layers to those episodes, from the start. Off topic, I wonder how, 4 episodes in, you were able to sing the theme song: either you have a good ear or the song is quite good. Either way, I like hearing you hum it!
