Welcome to Deep Dive, the format where we go into detail on a system or element that we’ve created for our game. Since we’re using Unity to power our game, we’ve needed to create a lot of systems to get everything working smoothly. While we could have just used pre-built frameworks like RPGMaker or Ren’Py, we wanted to make our own systems so we could have intimate knowledge of their workings and also have the freedom to easily expand on their functionality as development progresses.

I’m Vilsa Nara, working as a programmer and general developer for Third Crisis, and for the first Deep Dive, I’m going to be taking you behind the curtain of the dialogue system that I’ve been building for the game.
