>The instructions of how the device works are blurred by years of abandon and rain, but Dipper can figure out that the device must be used along other person and is main function is to help on "UNDERSTANDING"

>Dipper decides to try using this device to understand Wendy better

>They play the cootie-catcher - the hidden message revealed based on their conversation is just two words: AGE/GENDER
>They are confused for a moment, when suddenly everything starts to swirl around them, and they feel weird, slowly blacking out

>When they woke up they realize for their surprise that they changed BOTH age and gender! Dipper is now an older teenage girl, and Wendy is an young boy!

>Slowly the world is considering this as the proper continuity, as people's memmories of them change to fit the new Dipper and Wendy
>Slowly even they're starting to remember this as correct
>Dipper gets hit by Robbie and is friends with the teens while Mabel is the one with a recurring crush on Wendy (Wendel?)


Optional:
Robbie and Mabel (or Pacifica) end up playing the cootie-catcher too, and only change their genders (but not age): leading to teenage goth girl Robbie and young boy Mabel (or Pacifica)

Give the cootie-catcher a period of one or two days to recharge before being able to be used again once it transforms somebody, and include a bunch of weird situations and problems that keep preventing the characters of fixing themselves.

The main idea of the cootie-catcher is that it works by swapping TRAITS, sometimes a single trait, sometimes multiples.
