The July Update + Big News! (2021) (Patreon)

Hi all!

A bit of news from me regarding the state of things in the Hawthorne publishing world.

1. Book 3 is undergoing round 2 of edits. I am also busy having the cover made. Fingers crossed for an early Fall release.

2. Dead and Horny round 1 edits are back, so that's now on my to-do list.

3. Book 2 audiobook is slow going. There was a huge technical issue and Amber has to re-do chapters that had a lingering audio issue. This is a setback. I have no idea when these chapters will get finished, so hoping for a Fall release.

Speaking of audiobooks, let me wax nostalgic for a moment about Radley's Home for Horny Monsters, the audiobook edition.

Do you realize it's only been a year since it came out? Exactly one year ago (plus or minus a few days), Audiobook One launched on Audible, ACX and Itunes. It was a gamble that we made (and not a cheap one) in the hopes that it would eventually pay for itself and that we could make a second audiobook.

In the course of a year, we were able to sell over two thousand copies. THIS. IS. INCREDIBLE.

Not just from a financial standpoint (book paid for itself and then some). It means people loved it, and I get an email at least once a week about the next audiobook and when it's going to come out.

Shortly after releasing the audiobook, I had a few people message me with concerns regarding ACX and their exclusivity agreement. You see, to make the money I did for each sale, I went exclusive. This doubled what I would normally earn thru ACX, and allowed me to thoroughly test the waters of putting my story out there in an audio format as well as pay off that initial (frightening) cost.

So why am I bringing this all up?

My Publisher (known on the Discord channel as the Head Goblin) has formally broken our exclusivity agreement with ACX. In the weeks ahead, the audiobook will show up in other sales channels, such as Barnes and Noble, (etc), meaning that you can likely purchase it from your favorite audio retailer.
