I actually see only 3 possibilities for anime only fans right now: (1) They just watch the opening, even if it's quite spoilerish about character X and Y's relationship. (2) They watch the opening at the end of the episode after the ending, then they are still partially spoiled, but at least they have the surprise effect in the episode. (3) They watch the opening at the end of episode 16.

Personally I always watch the OP first episode because at the end of the day it's part of what the creators and animators want you to watch as a part of the anime. Now when I do, I'm not trying to study it with a pad and pen or think to overally about it but I think it's a good idea to get the general tone and vibe that the creators intended. Then you just gotta make the judgement for yourself, if you think it might spoil something the more you watch it then just skip it. Kinda just like with movie trailers.

I liked the discussions they had for the very 1st opening, so I would love for that also with this new opening.. also don't think the spoilers are heavy.
