You two should watch Hereditary together. One of the scariest horror movies I've seen, and it has barely any jump scares. Just relentless creepiness

I had tears from laughing so much with the intro discussion :D Uzumaki is a highly anticipated Anime that comes out next year, which is SUPER wholesome and has noooooo Horror elements at all, I swear ;) But on a serious not, really enjoying the lengthy Vinland discussions and I'm so thankful we get 2 a week. Really happy to see so many comments advocating for Haikyuu to replace the Mob spot <3 More wholesome shows like Haikyuu, Run with the Wind, Fruits Basket, March comes in like a Lion, A Place Further Than The Universe, Barakamon, Ranking of Kings etc. would be great and I want Milena not to suffer anymore :)

I’ve always thought that the reaction that I would love from Lola and Milena the most is Haikyuu. It’s just perfect for them!❤️ If I remember correctly one of them has knowledge on volleyball as well.. Very happy on all the recommendations for it and hopefully it has a good shot on being on a poll and winning!

I also like the idea of Haikyuu to fill in a 'wholesome slot' haha

Vinland Saga hype. I'll also throw in my recommendation for Haikyuu... it's one of the only wholesome shows at the top of my favorites

I haven't watched Haikyuu so I can't give my opinion on that. The most wholesome anime I've watched so far I'd say it's Spy x Family it's almost all wholesomeness and no drama, also kind of a found family? I think you'd like it. Maybe to replace mob? My knowledge in anime is limited so that's all I can recommend. I'd recommend Jujutsu Kaisen but I'd be lying because I read the manga and s1 is kinda wholesome but yeah... shit hits the fan pretty soon.

I'm having a great deal of fun because of the absurdity of situation. Vinland Saga is the polar opposite of anything you said you liked in a show. If someone were in court for some crime and their justification was the same as the arguments for why you should watch AND enjoy Vinland Saga they would be instantly convicted without parole: "Your, honor, she said she doesn't want to at first but I knew that by the end of it she'll love it. You see, sir, the trauma she experienced was quintessential for the whole experience because that way it will scar her for the rest of her life". LMAO

I just realized that we can't do Hannibal to Milena. It has, in my opinion, the same horror as Get Out, only in even more unbearable. Even I, who had no problems with Get Out, had to really pull myself together during the first episodes of Hannibal, as many times as I looked away. Fortunately, I was able to get used to it.

Honestly, if the consensus is truly that we want them to watch a happy, wholesome series next, I'd suggest recommending shows from the iyashikei genre instead of the standard, popular shonens. If we're simply recommending anime with wholesome moments, then yeah, I could get behind Ranking of Kings, Spy x Family, or Kaguya-sama as other people have suggested. I've never seen Haikyuu, so I can't comment on that one.

SupremeCai

iyashikei does not always equal wholesome lmao but RoK, Spy Family, Kaguya, and Haikyuu are good wholesome options

Merfhew

I thought that was the whole purpose of the genre. Wholesome, heartwarming, healing good vibes.

"Iyashikei (癒し系, pronounced "iyashikä") comes from the Japanese word 癒す ("iyasu"), which means "to heal". Iyashikei is often understood as a subgenre of anime and manga, and thus refers to particularly "healing" material. The term first appeared after the devastating earthquake around Kōbe in 1995, and addresses the need for escapism that triggers primarily positive feelings and features little depressing, polarizing, or violent content. As a result, most Iyashikei anime are found as a subgenre of slice of life rather than in the realm of horror, action, or thrillers..." Interesting genre, I didn't know there was a name for this type of anime. With A Place Further Than the Universe and Silver Spoon there are even a few really good ones. Edit: "With its all-girl cast and cutesy promo art, it's easy to mistake "A Place Further Than the Universe" for the Iyashikai genre, but it's actually a relatively drama-heavy Coming of Age Story."

Merfhew

I only learned about it recently myself. I'm a big fan of Natsume's Book of Friends, but that's the only iyashikei that I'm familiar with.
