The reason why Ignacio became suspicious that somebody might be in that abandoned shack watching him is because he noticed that the Air Conditioner was connected to it and working even though the house looked boarded up and abandoned.

I think the reason the motel number was left in the safe is that gus was trying to make it looked like nacho was working for some people in south America and was framing him with a money paper trail to a bank statement in Peru that was in the same safe. So maybe even if he did talk they would think he's lying because of the Peru bank account. Still feels like a stretch though

A more plausible explanation is that they were trying to get him killed before he spills the beans. They gave him a gun and told him to shoot anyone who goes through that door, then led the Cartel to him.
