I'm glad to see you gals already liking Amos 🙂 Also, the detective's name is Josephus Miller. Just call him Miller. Anderson Dawes is played by Jared Harris from Chernobyl and Mad Men. They got some amazing actors It's OPA (not OPI). It stands for Outer Planets Alliance.

Same as Attack on Titan. Keep asking questions. Keep coming up with theories. Glad you're enjoying it already. The 4 episode thing is more of a "if you don't like it after 4 episodes, it's okay to quit" rule. I was hooked after 1 like you two. Also check out a map of the solar system when you get a chance. It will help with some context and remembering some of the casual names and slang. Earth and Mars are the "inner" planets because they're inside the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The outer planets (in the show context) include the asteroid belt and any moons for the gas giant planets outside of the asteroid belt (and of course the gas giant planets themselves but nobody lives there). The OPA is the "Outer Planets Alliance". Ceres is the largest asteroid in the asteroid belt, which is part of why it's a well-developed colony, but there are other asteroids around the belt that are being mined for resources by different companies, much like how colonization happened on Earth. Saturn has rings made of ice, and the Canterbury is a ship owned by an Earth company that goes between Ceres and Saturn to collect ice and bring it back. Fun fact: the book series was written before we discovered how abundant water is in the solar system. The authors have written about how all the discoveries of water since then have kinda messed up one of the fundamental resource struggles of their story, but the show did say that Ceres was once covered in ice and the inners took most of it for themselves, so it's not completely ruined.

Don't know if you guys have noticed but the actress who plays the Earth Secretary-General (the main woman they show on Earth), Chrisjen Avasarala, is the voice actress for Grayson in Arcane. The female enforcer who had a deal with Vander and was a bit of a mentor to Caitlyn

Politics summary up to this point: Tensions between Earth and Mars have been rising for a number of reasons over the last few decades. Mars used to be a colony of the U.N. which meant it was also governed by U.N. laws. Over the decades, the Martian colony built up its resources and technologies to the point where it became largely self-sustaining and didn’t need to rely on shipments from Earth anymore. Naturally, after generations on Mars, the Martian people began to view themselves differently from the people on Earth and requested to secede from the U.N. governing body and become its own independent nation. The U.N. rejected this request and war was only avoided because a Martian engineer developed the advanced fusion engines that allowed us to go out and mine the Asteroid Belt and beyond. Mars eventually decided to share the technology with the U.N. in exchange for independence. As a new independent nation, the Martian colony became the Mars Congressional Republic (MCR). This began a period of Cold War between the two superpowers which is the period we are in now. Side note, you’ll see the Martian soldiers and ships have MCRN all over them, this stands for Mars Congressional Republic Navy. After Mars shared the new fusion engines with Earth, humans were able to go all the way out to the Asteroid Belt and beyond to mine resources. Eventually, these people from Earth and Mars colonized the Belt and after many generations, their descendants became the Belters we see today. After generations, the citizens of the Belt were more or less left to fend for themselves and find a way to live, as Earth and Mars would use most of the resources for themselves. After decades of neglect and oppression, many Belters became disenchanted with the Inners and began revolting in any way they could (disrupting ice shipments, ransoming civilian transports, and doing other pirate things). These Belters eventually branded themselves as OPA, or the Outer Planets Alliance, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the U.N. and MCR. Originally, the U.N. assumed Mars destroyed the Canterbury and used the Scopuli as a decoy. However, as Chrisjen discovered, Mars did not carry out the attack. We don’t know yet who carried out the attack, but it’s a good bet that the ship headed towards our crew on the Donnager (Mars’s largest ship) had something to do with it. Julie Mao is a Martian and her father Jules-Pierre Mao is a very rich and influential man that is trying to find her.

The older guy told that story because he was hurt that she had used him to find out that Mars wasn’t involved. Or that she lied to him to do it at least. But the story does still give an insight to her character. In the books the belters are taller and thinner than humans from earth so there is more of a visual split between them. You’d know a belter just by looking at them. So it’s more than just living there, you’d have to be born in space to be considered a belter.

Glad you girls are liking the show Fun fact, the ships are built vertically like buildings and use thrust to generate 'gravity'

Finally catching up on the eps I missed last week! I'm loving how things are shaping up. I enjoy Shed and Alex the most, so far. Julie resurfacing is the event I'm forward to most, currently. Those interrogation scenes were so sick

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

The pill is a focus drug. It’s so interrogators can read micro expressions to tell if someone is lying. It’s why Lopez kept asking to see Naomi’s hands. I love Lola’s love for Naomi. “Even if she’s done something wrong, I’m still on her side” đŸ€Ł

Naomi Nagata (who Mars accused of being in the O.P.A.--Outer Planets Alliance) is a born Belter. In the books, she is described having obvious Belter characteristics: she's really tall (easily the tallest of our crew) with long limbs and a larger than normal sized head.

Peadar O'RuadhĂĄn

I have rewatched this show countless times, and everytime I pick up on things I missed in previous viewings....

Natasha Sullivan

I've noticed that too! I've seen the show (most seasons) like 3 times. and I still pick up on new things every time
