I hope you realized with their meeting scene that Gus wasn't trying to "recruit" Mike with that tracker. Gus was just keeping tabs on Mike to make sure that he doesn't do something that Gus doesn't want. Gus never expected Mike to catch onto the tracker and reverse the positions and figure out Gus' location. Gus clearly respects Mike though, and since he's Hector's enemy, Gus probably thinks that Mike is worth keeping alive (enemy of my enemy). Gus was going to walk away and never see Mike again, but it was Mike that told Gus that he wasn't yet done with Hector. And that's how the two began forming a relationship.

You are right, they do know how to tell a great story. Beautiful and masterful cinematography. Gripping, strong, tragic characters. It only gets better and better.

I also think that Chuck was planning something on the scene with his legal counsel. However, I still believe that he was sencere when talking about Jimmy. He does genuinely love him (in his own way) and cares for his well-being. It's also important to know that Chuck has had the condition for 3 years by now, timeline wise. And in this time, he's seen Jimmy progress his law career a lot and that probably stung him considering he has been out-of-practice himself for so long.

44:00 Also, Gus is not an evil man? He used children to sling drugs and presumably killed Andrea's little brother. He killed Victor (with box cutter) without hesitation, who he's known far longer than Mike, simply on the suspicion of trouble. Gus is definitely not honorable, and he has no problem killing innocents or those who're not in the game.

That scene at the beginning was a flash-forward. The shoes were all old and beat up from the sun. The laces eventually wore out and that's why they fell. Seeing Gus' truck pass by was foreshadowing his rise in the drug business as seen in Breaking Bad.
