Jimmy IS a bad guy. He destroyed countless lives and will continue to do so in the future. Chuck has only hurt his brother. Jimmy is a worse person by all regards.

A paralegal is basically someone who is trained to assist lawyers, especially lawyers with complicated caseloads. Jimmy mentions that Kim is looking for one but they don't hire Francesca as one. She's basically just a receptionist, just to there to answer the phone and set up meetings, welcome people into the waiting area, etc. Kim would want someone with some experience in banking law, and she likely wouldn't share a paralegal with Jimmy since she wants her practice to be separate from Jimmy as much as possible.

I disagree when Lola said “if Jimmy changes and doesn’t do illegal things that’s step in the right direction in their relationship”. Chuck was much more comfortable with the dynamic when Jemmy is being slipping Jimmy. As long as Jimmy was in a controlled and subordinate position, Chuck felt all right, everything was okay with the world, but if he tried to rise up to be Chuck’s equal, that felt too much like the world reversing itself, and Jimmy becoming successful despite who he was. You can see Chuck reaction when Jimmy become a lawyer, it has nothing to do with “the law is secret” or whatever. I believe we will have the same reaction even if Jimmy picks another major. Do you imagine Chucks reaction to be any different, I think the answer is no

Chuck doesn't want Jimmy to be rewarded or to achieve any real success in life. He tries to tear Jimmy down whenever he gets the chance. I don't think it would've been different if Jimmy had chosen a different career; Chuck wouldn't have been as offended but he'd still resent seeing Jimmy succeed. I think that resentment extends to relationships too. Chuck's marriage failed despite being a good, moral, upstanding person (in his own eyes), and then he sees Jimmy effortlessly gaining Kim's love, friendship and loyalty despite being "bad" and undeserving. That's why he calls Jimmy a hypnotist (Svengali) because he thinks Kim's affection for Jimmy must be because he's manipulating and decieving her. The thought that she simply loves him for who he is never crosses his mind. I imagine if K&J's relationship was further along and they planned to get married, Chuck would do everything in his power to try to sabotage it before it happened. "For her own good"
