Glad you are watching season 2! His little action at the end of the episode with the light switch is very interesting and it reflects his so-called fearlessness compared to the beginning of the episode, where you see him even afraid to open a door on the off chance the police might be called. He isn't afraid to do what people tell him not to do and is a great clue into his character. I myself had to watch this twice before I understood the significance of that scene.

While I wouldn't say that Saul is as bad of a person as Walter I couldn't call him a good person at all. Outside of the criminal stuff that you mentioned like money laundering he is very open to murder. It's his immediate solution to the Badger problem in his first episode, he opens up a dialogue with Walt about killing Jesse in season 3, etc etc. If he was just going to become a morally grey lawyer then that one things, but it's heartbreaking that Jimmy will eventually become Saul because Jimmy is such a sweetheart and Saul is definitely not that.

BTW in case you forgot, in season 1 when Jimmy is showing Kim the big office he mentions getting a cocobolo desk for it because "he likes saying it". So Jimmy got the desk of his dreams.

There is some really cool symbolism that almost everybody misses with the coin from the bar trick. In Jimmy's pitch in the bar trick, Jimmy mentions the that the guy who went rouge in the coin mint was angry because Kennedy was facing east toward the American past. This rogue switched the way that Kennedy was facing so that he was facing west, toward America's bright future. Near the end of the both this episode and 1x10, as Jimmy is walking to accept the job at David and Main, Jimmy stops, and we get a lingering shot of Jimmy in profile facing east. Those shots look strikingly similar to Jimmy's face being on the side of a coin. In those moments, Jimmy is looking toward the boring past that everyone else wants for him, and he can't stomach it. So he turns around and walks west toward his own perceived "bright" future. It is also worth noting that, because Jimmy wears Marco's ring on his left pinky, when Jimmy is looking east toward the old life that he doesn't really want, we are seeing the side of Jimmy without the ring. I think that makes the scenes where they do a sharp cut to Jimmy playing with the ring so pronounced.

anyone else find BCS more tragic and heartbreaking than BB? I just re-watched this episode and i just get this over all feeling of dread the whole time knowing what Saul becomes and how Kim is ominously absent in BB.
