"I can't see Mikasa living on if Eren is dead." You should recall episode 6 I think. She was about to allow herself to be eaten by a mindless titan. And then a memory flashed to her mind of Eren, saying: "Fight! Fight!" when they killed the kidnappers. At that point, she chose to live on to honor Eren's wishes, and also said: If I die, then my memories of Eren die with me." So, if she chooses to continue living, it would be because of that type of decision.

Yeah, people underestimate Mikasa. She's a tough cookie and would adapt to survive. It's the same as when she's without Eren for long enough she interacts healthily with other characters, even comforts them etc (The anime cuts a lot of these out though). But if she has Eren she's going to lean on him like a crutch
