Yes, you were totally spot on about the meaning of El Camino being "the road" / "the way". Of course it's the car too, which was the obvious level of the title but with Vince, there's often double meanings in the titles. The opening and end shot is Jesse driving. The movie is his road, the "way" he has to go to finally be free.

Todd's actors name is actually Jesse Plemons.

I think the movie was quite well done, except for one thing. They established such a perfect contrast between Jesse's exhilarated screaming at the end of Felina and his silent contentment at the end of this...and then they ruin it with a jarring El Camino title card and music. It just felt very out of place to me for Breaking Bad's style.

Michael Kang-Beats

You didn't remember the name "Landry" cuz Coach Taylor always called him "Lance." hahahaha

Eh, the end credits music is pretty upbeat and fairly gentle. I'd agree if it was a smash cut to heavy metal music but this completely works for me. It would be weird for the end credits to be silent.

"Whatever happened with me, it's on me." Even though the ordeal that Jesse went through was terrible and way too extreme I feel like he ended up seeing it as atonement for all the bad things he did in BB. He was struggling so much with his guilt throughout BB and could never do what the counselor wanted and accept himself, but after getting punished for his actions I feel like he accepted himself and took responsibility for his choices and could move on. Like Mike says, he can never put things right, but he can accept and start fresh. I also loved that in the climax of the movie he resembles both his mentors, Mike in the shootout and Walter blowing up the building with chemistry. Also, the end scene with Walter takes place right after the Jesse and Walt were stuck in the desert in the episode "4 Days Out" Thanks for all the reactions to this show they've been great. I'm very excited for BCS (I actually like it a little bit more).

Random easter egg : at the beginning when Jesse pulls the car over to hide while the police drive by, then he backs up to leave and knocks over a mail box. The numbers on the mail box are "212". Which represent season 2 episode 12, Phoenix. The episode where Jane dies. Now that you watched this, hear is an amazing fan made Jesse tribute video that I love!! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7NIXufoabsA

Another easter egg! When Jesse was grabbing the money out of Todd's fridge and the guy was pointing a gun at his face. He was pointing it at the exact same spot where Jesse shot Gail in the face.

When I first heard about BCS, I was skeptical, just because I'm skeptical of most spin-offs, but I thought I'd give it a try and because I had learned to trust the BB writers. All I can after 5 seasons, is 1) that BB/BCS has the least lazy writing room in the business and 2) that they have far exceeded my expectations. A different story than BB, but also a great one. I can't wait for Season 6!

The Walter scene happens during the episode "Four Days Out". When theyre cooking in the desert, then decide to go stay in a hotel for the night but the RV is dead and they get stuck. It happens right after they get the RV working again before they go home.

I didn't even watch it until after all of season 1 aired because it just sounded awful to me. I loved Bob Odenkirk long before seeing him in BrBa but I just thought that this was unnecessary milking of the world and really couldn't see how they could do all that much with that character. When I finally sat down to watch it I was shocked by how great that first season was, and then I fell head over heels in love with it in season 2. If you had told me after the last episode of BrBa had aired that we'd get a Jesse Pinkman movie and a Saul Goodman spinoff, and that the Jesse movie would be a wonderful epilogue but that the Saul spinoff would be an essential series that rivaled BrBa I would have told you that you were out of your mind. But here we are.

The flashback with Walter is already one of my favorite scenes even including the main series. Gods, it was so perfect, especially waiting for years for the movie. Walter and Jesse's dynamic one last time, them bickering and having a son father moment (one of the times where Walter was legit giving Jesse life advice instead of manipulating him). And when Walt said "You're really lucky. You didn't have to wait your whole life to do something special" that moment was just perfect. It really summed Walt up in a single line. Shit almost made me tear up.

I enjoyed getting to see pre-season 5 Walt again. You could really see how he viewed Jesse like a son.

Better Call Saul is great at growing in the space that it's given to grow. It's always going to be compared to Breaking Bad, but it doesn't try too hard to capture the same magic Breaking Bad had or try too hard to outdo it. It has some of the same characters, but it doesn't rely too much on nostalgia. It introduces new characters that you get to grow to love and tells new stories that you get invested in even though you know eventually the timeline will merge with the Breaking Bad story. It's tremendous what they've been able to accomplish given the high expectations, and I can't wait for the final season.

As horrific it was for Jesse to spend all that time being held prisoner, I feel like in the end it may be what helps him move on and actually start a new life after everything that happened (with Gale etc). Like he might feel like he has been punished for it and more able to leave it behind. That's my hope for the character anyway and I'm far happier to leave him in this world from the position he's in at the end of El Camino vs the BB finale. Looking forward to Better Call Saul, I'm sure you'll love it. :)

Yeah, in a way his time being held as captive, even if definetely shorter than what he would have gotten by law, from a 'moral' point of view is worth as many years of regular jailtime (considering it was way worse than a regular jail), so he can have a similiar mindset as someone who served his time and can now move on

Ryan Roach

I mean, it has dozens of the same characters. But it still manages to feel fresh.

Seems weird that they wouldn’t have gone directly home after that ordeal. I think this is from another earlier cook. Remember Walt was pretty wrecked and thinking he was about to die. And he’s pretty causal in that diner scene.

Absolutely sticking around for BCS. It is fantastic, and as far as it starting slow.......it follows the same writing forumla and process that was used for Breaking Bad that Vince Gilligan ran. So it invests heavily in character development so the payoffs are earned and wonderful. But you need to build to that and coming off Breaking Bad (Better Call Saul started very shortly after Breaking Bad ended), it was like you were rebooting the machine and it felt even slower. For me......I loved the show since the first frame and I think it is 1 notch below Breaking Bad. The acting and writing is outstanding and the new characters really add to the universe. I am going to be crushed when the show wraps up and the Breaking Bad universe is wrapped up.

Words cannot express how excited i am for BCS to start.

As i said in some other comment, BB feels a bit more plot driven, whereas BCS feels a bit more character driven. whichever you prefer is subjective, but they definitely share a LOT of DNA, in terms of structure and style.

Eddie Collison

He could tell Brock that the people who killed his mother are dead.
