I'm so sad Mako Iwamatsu couldn't finish his role as Iroh. Somewhere in the multiverse we got a much sadder version of that reunion scene. No offense to Greg Baldwin. But still, I tear up everytime I see it. Rest in peace Mako.

Love that here Katara is the one who reassures Zuko that Iroh will forgive him. I mean, it’s just a very Katara thing to do, and it shows how far she’s come in her acceptance of him, but with that also, I think it must be extra encouraging to Zuko because he knows Katara really means it.

Oh wow. I didn't even notice the how Zuko was on his knees apologizing to both Ozai and Iroh and how only Iroh accepted him. Great catch 👌

Also I want to point out in episode one zuko woke iroh up to tell him they were changing directions here he waited for him to wake before spilling his heart out his character development is insane

Wowww I never even realized the parallel between Zuko crying on his knees for forgiveness for Ozai and for Iroh. Been watching the show since 2008 and just now realizing this. Thank you!

Zuko probably never had another motherly figure or positive female influence in his life after losing his mother. That is likely something he has been searching for since episode 1. Katara is the perfect person to help fill that void for him. I feel like what she said to him is what his mother would have said if she had been there.

It isn’t that I love watching you both cry, but it is fantastic to cry along with you and laugh along as well ( sometimes at the same time). This show mixes humorous and emotional moments so well. This episode just kills me every time.

BTW Avatar Yang Chen is a woman- you can tell by the hair since most female airbenders keep their hair and sometimes shave only the front half
