YAY!!! While I would have personally not put this in the "short" show category myself, I am really happy you're watching it. Especially after you guys watched Violet Evergarden with the intention of watching more female-led anime, and this one is great for that. Did y’all watch the intro? Clearly they’re more interested in Haikyuu! They even have merch for it already. Monster is a sad show, it’s basically a Ranking of Kings and Frieren type show, let them watch something happy and different.

I did?? I know they want to watch haikyu because it's happier but Milena is obviously joking that "she's against monster". If they really wanted haikyuu the most they will just watch it, but since they are interested in both they will make a poll. It's not like they don't like sad shows at all, theirs favorites shows are like breaking bad/ aot/ black sails... I don't see why they couldn't watch monster. A lot of people have been waiting for it.

The music in this show is composed by Evan Call, same guy who composed the music in Violet Evergarden, so it does have kind of a similar vibe like you guys said!

The show is exceptional, beginning where most stories end. "Beyond Journey's End" is the perfect title, capturing the essence of what many fans wonder: what happens to beloved characters after the finale? At the same time, we get the view of an elf who has lived for centuries, if not thousands of years. This gives the story another interesting narrative perspective and also a nice emotional depth. I'm already looking forward to the next episodes. And quick info: All names are German adjectives/verbs/nouns and give a brief description of the characters. Frieren = freeze, be cold Himmel = sky, heaven Heiter = cheerful, bright Eisen = iron, ferrous Fern = distant, far away

so excited for this! i could see how the pacing and episodic nature of this show could be dull for some but for their channel it’ll be great. most eps feel like warm vignettes so it serves well as a weekly series

very happy to revisit this beautiful series with you two, I love all the characters, and the dialogues are gems and I think for this series it is good to watch 1 episode a week as it is like violet evergarden you don't need to continue in a hurry, I feel it is also a show to take some time after each episode. <3 <3 and lola I understand you, I started watching the series without knowing anything and I ended up crying with all the episodes, my chicken heart couldn't handle anything 😔🫶

Only thing I'll say is that a lot of names in this anime are based on German, so if you're ever doubtful about how to pronounce names, lean more German if that helps.

Sorry, but if the decision is between Haikyuu and Monster, I'm definitely against Haikyuu. They might enjoy both shows, but I think their Monster discussions will be far more interesting. Plus, I feel like giving us a seinen anime after 100+ episodes of HxH shonen would be fair, instead of immediately starting yet another shonen. A lot of us have been waiting years for Monster, so the suggestion to just skip polling kinda feels like a slap in our faces.

Tbh I wish something worked out where they would watch both lol I personally think Monster is incredibly overrated. I watched it once years ago and it was forgettable. I tried again last year now that I'm older and more mature and it was still incredibly dull BUT all the Monster fans seem really respectful here and they've been patient as well. Either way I'm really excited for the poll!

Fun fact, when you guys said that the episode felt like a movie, for the majority of us it kind of already was. The first 4 episodes dropped all at once and most people watched them in one sitting

Imo Monster and Haikyuu are eequally as good but in their own genre. But Haikyuu def more popular due to it being much more recent and also easier to follow. One day we will get Monster

Frieren is not a sad show btw. It has sad moments, sure, but I hardly think that qualifies as a sad show. If anything, I think the show is hopeful.

I legit don't know any other show that made me emotional within the first 12-14 mins of the show, (most of the times it's by the end of the premiere of the episode). Frieren somehow managed to do that, and when I first watched it, it made me question a gut feeling if this is going to rock my top 10. It easily went to my top 5. Welcome to the Journey's End ❤ this and Vinland Saga was my top 2 anime of the year of 2023 (even tho cour 2 of Frieren was this year).
