For anyone starting the show with the girls..there is mayor spoilers for the other show (Gen V) that are mentioned in the boys and some events from that show that translate into this one. Just a heads up for anyone who still wants to watch Gen V blind.

What I really like about this season is the "small" political undertone to the US elections. It gives this season a new direction, because instead of aligning your behavior with the public's opinion as before, you manipulate the public according to your interests to get your opinion accepted.

My two cents about the first episode.. I feel the focus should be on Homelander and the main plot .. I feel the focus at this stage of the story should be on the main plot and the impending doom that Homelander is. Don’t get me wrong, the others they are great characters but they should stay as secondary characters or push forward the main plot. Regarding the parody of real life politics in this show, it was never subtle and it was always in your face.. I’ve seen some people complaining about that but I just don’t get it..if they really feel so strong about it now then what does it really say about them lol the show was never subtle from the jump. I might be on the minority but I actually like Sage.. her character seems like a good addition to this show and the fact that she smiled a little when Homelander told her she can put her theories to practice means she might be more twisted that she seems to be.

I have similar points of criticism, but I won't mention this until episode 4 because I don't want to take anything away from them. The season isn't bad by any means, but I feel like they're not sure what to do with some of the characters.

Gen V is also the better show compared to season 4. While we don't have the mental instability of Homelander, we have an interesting plot with characters we haven't seen before and feel fresh.

@Robert one of my biggest criticisms of season 3 is how the showrunners wouldn't commit to any meaningful choices for these characters. I thought that having a clear ending in sight (ending the show with season 5) would give the characters a bit more direction. Now, I only watched the first two episodes, but if you say that they still seem to unsure about what to do with them has me a bit worried

I feel like they only have one major development choice in mind for each character and are delaying that because they didn't know when the show would be over. Now, that they know, that Season 5 will be the last, there is hope for that. Or all the characters will make the decision in the last episode of season 5 and stay in loop until then.

Yes, a lot of people say they abandoned the series but the audience only grows with each season. This season in particular is generating a lot of political discussion... My opinion is: if this next season wasn't the last, I would abandon it too, but I'm glad they knew where to stop. I'm loving Homelander's plot this season

I haven't watched LM since The Wire or one of the Mike Flanagan shows because I'm not interested in anime or Black Sails. So good to be back watching them. They are are so entertaining and the best reaction channel by a huge margin.

You guys didn’t even flinch when Black Noir appeared on screen in this episode (after being disemboweled and killed by HomeLander in Season 3) or when he spoke (which his character never did in previous seasons) 😂

I’m not as convinced as you guys are that Butcher will be killed off this season. Eric Kripke has announced that they will finish up the show in Season 5 so I wouldn’t be surprised if they delay Butcher’s death until that season. But either way i agree with you that he will definitely die at some point.

It's not that I don't like or enjoy anime but there are only so many hours in a week that I can devote to TV and movies. I can't watch everything and so anime is just a big blind spot for me.

they got tilda swinton to voice the octopus so who knows how prominent the rest of the guest actors will be this season also relieved that amazon is letting this series end at 5 seasons, this is the type show where the novelty would wear off if they stretched it out

If you find the time, give black sails a chance, it's pretty incredible and it's become one of the most beloved shows by the girls

I still believe the best choice would have been to make this season be the last season. But I am happy that they are stopping at 5. I do have criticisms for this season, in regards to characters and their stories but I will save my critiques until the girls have caught up to the rest of the episodes.

It's much worse than it looks in the show. The make-up artists really give their best to make her look like she used to. I feel rather sorry for her, as she probably felt pressured by the Hollywood environment to undergo cosmetic surgery.
