Clarification: Season 1 adapted the first 155 chapters, but left out many subplots that were then adapted into Treasure Chest of Courage (TCC). In addition, TCC 10 adapted chapters 156 to 165 and gives season 1 a finale to all storylines. As you said yourself, episode 23 feels pretty open-ended with Ouken. Season 2 will take a long time to come, if it comes at all. The manga is currently at Chapter 230, so with any luck we'll get a second season in 2030. But a movie has been announced that will probably come next year. My guess is that author Sōsuke Tōka is working on the movie since he stopped releasing more chapters since the movie was announced last year.

Parasyte the Maxim is awesome they even have on Netflix a live action version which is very well done. After the success of live action with One Piece Netflix is doing more! Finally live action anime versions are actually good!
