The episode that broke the fanbase so bad there are actual 'canon' alt. continuities where L won against Kira, including a book. Your concerns as to how the remaining 11 episodes proceed without L to counterbalance Light are valid, but I think you'll like what follows.

So many people hated that L died at this point they disregard everything else after but the episodes after this arent bad heck we've been follwing the Antagonist all along and you didn't expect him to come out on top ? Even though L died they did have a lot of symbolism in this episode, L hearing the church bells he heard when he was a kid signifying his end coming close, L washing Lights feet how the jews did for Jesus before he died on the cross and the music at the end was really signifing
