This is such a good adaptation of the graphic novel. You're correct that Chris Nolan's Dark Knight Rises drew a lot of inspiration from from the Dark Knight Returns. For example the scene with the old and young cop reacting to Batman's return is almost identical to Batman's return in The Dark Knight Rises. In both versions the old cop says to the young one, "You're in for a show tonight." Also yeah that Batman theme music goes hard. I love it. Someone above already mentioned that Batman is voiced by Peter Weller. I love that they got 1980s Robocop to voice Batman.

This and year one are technically happening in the same universe. I think all the animated movies you’ve seen so far have been unconnected, there are a few different groupings of movies happening in the same timeline.
