Superman II

My dad grew up watching these movies, everytime they were showing them on tv he was always excited to see them with me. These movies will always have a special place in my heart (especially the first two). Honestly only Superman IV is hard to watch, I think there's still enjoyable parts in Superman III. Superman Returns is supposed to be a direct sequel to Superman II with a different cast, and I have to say that imo, Brandon Routh did an amazing job considering he basically had to act like Christopher Reeves' Superman. I have so many fond memories of Smallville, basically accompanied me throughout my childhood till I was 16/17. It still has imo the best live action version of Lex Luthor and I think you would love their version of Lois Lane too. Unfortunately is such a long series (10 seasons with 40 min episodes) that a reaction series is a pretty daunting task, it would be still interesting if you would react to just the pilot though.

And now, post movie thoughts: I love this movie, it’s very nearly equal the first which is incredibly hard to do. The theme when the switch at the Fortress is revealed is second only to his debut in the first movie as The Superman Moment for me. The hero always wins in his own way on his own terms. And yes, Reeve is my Superman too. Always will be. That theme, that look, that’s the character. Often imitated, never quite duplicated. You know my view on spoilers by now, so my lips are sealed on my opinions on III, IV and Returns. You watch them, I’m along for the ride because it’s a Superman movie. Unless/until they fundamentally mess something up. Save that discussion for later though. Speaking of discussion, let’s have one on this - is Catwoman Batman’s Lois? You talked about how well Clark and Lois are matched, does that go the same for Selina and Bruce? As to what to read… Man of Steel, which I think is in four volumes now is pretty solid and, at least in comics, the take on Clark and Lois I most enjoy. The run actually goes from 1986 into the mid 2000s, so it’s hefty and not fully collected in hard or soft cover, but I’d still recommend it. So, until the next movie, see you around.

2023-08-28 12:03:44 The new Superman And Lois show pretty much tops every live action Superman tv series, and understands the character like only the Animated Series, and the Richard Donner films have (and obvi the original comics).... So Smallville def could be skipped for a way shorter, and arguably better composed modern show.... And that's frm someone who LOVED Smallville, had it as a huge part of their high-school experience, used it to get through many tough times in their lives, still follows all the actors, and watches quite a few podcasts about the show still coming out now..... But yeah; Superman And Lois from 2021 on, *is* your best bet, Meg🤷
