Gurren Lagann is definitely a top 10 anime for me. A large part of it is Simon. I think simon is one of the greatest main characters in anime. To go from not being able to believe in yourself to understanding how life moves on from a greater perspective and that he is willing to be the forgotten in order to help progression hits me. I wrote a philosophy paper on the importance of doing the best for you to learn about life and build yourself up in order to then mentor and transfer that knowledge to someone else gives meaning to life. I believe Simon has that understanding by the end of the series, with no hesitation he gave the key to one of the youngest people always watching him and learning, upon completing his journey in finding who he is.
