Submarine was the form in which the pitcher was pitching. It's low to the ground making the release point at a way lower angle. Release points are important in pitching as it switches the perspective for the batter. A taller pitcher has a higher release point making pitches seems steeper or harder. A sidearm pitcher focuses more on pitching in or away as they are pitching horizontally. A good example for release point is Eijun as you can't see his release point which is why the batters struggle.
