No Kakashi is still the same. He got no power up or whats so ever. You asked why he could useh his Sharingan all the time? Well that's because up to Madara and Obito clash he could easily spare his chakra through close combat fights. He acted as a leader there so he didn't need to fight that often. When he went to Naruto to fight against Obito he received from Kurama Chakra so he could use Kamui more often. Then Naruto gave him and all other shinobi his chakra. So after Obito died he became a spirit which is also chakra. As you might know Obito was born with very huge chakra so he gave it to Kakashi so he could use Susanoo. But Obito is now gone. All this time he received chakra but that's not an indication for it that his own chakra vessel became bigger. Kakashi has no power left, no chakra, no stamina improvement. Same chakra over all.

So, you asked how they're able to link, early on in the series, before the first Nartuo and Sauske fight, Jiraya told Naruto that when high level ninjas trade blows, they feel each others emotions. They know how each other feel. That's why they entered that shared consciousness space the first time. If you notice, every time Naruto trades blows with a very powerful enemy and they get brought into a mental link state, it's always that same place. That's ninshu my dude.
