Hey hey! I wanted to get your opinion on a few things. For those just looking for the latest true update (or perhaps just joining us??) Truffle's Day { 12 } can be found riiight here

Selecting the Twist

The comment I picked last time for the twist (thanks Kristie!) wasn't the one that got the most likes individually, but one that represented the most prevailing sentiment. There were many comments that basically said the same thing, and so I grouped the likes on each of them into one option, which in total had 42 likes. Do y'all think this is a good way to do it? Or should I ignore duplicates and just go for the single comment that got the most likes? It's a lil more work for me counting duplicates or partial duplicates but I don't mind if it better captures the overall sentiment.

Locking in the Outcome

I often need more than a day to start on the drawing, but I don't want people to be (unknowingly) commenting into the void after I've started them. I'll still read your comment ofc, but after a certain point I have to "lock in" the outcome -- I'm thinking of making the cutoff third day after I post the update maybe? Like from when I post it to the next morning, and then a full 24 hours, and then another full 24 hours, and then I tally it. I might need to make that 2 days for times when there's an update on Wednesday and then on Saturday. Lmk what y'all think, most of you get in pretty early but I wanna cover all schedules & timezones!

Polls?

I've noticed there's a poll option for Patreon posts. I could do the voting through polls instead of comments if y'all want. The downside here is I do read all your comments, and really enjoy when you explain your reasoning for picking an option, speculate on lore, or I dunno, do probability math. Poll is more efficient & utilitarian but also just so much more impersonal imo. What do u think?

New Feature: Next Update Links

There is now navigation between the updates! Link to the next one at the end, the previous one at the beginning. Enjoy! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*✲゚*。⋆

Language Update: TWIST is now CORRUPTION

I just think it's cool.

I think what your doing now is great and it’s fun reading through the comments :) But I don’t mind polls too if it saves you time, we don’t want you to burn out! Having a deadline is a good idea too. Thanks for asking for our /the reader’s input!! ** feeling so moved TT____TT

couldnt we just have polls AND comments on why we picked a poll? then you get to read of comments but wont get too stressed! (EDIT: that is to say, just count the poll! but the commentary would give you a general vibe of WHY we voted something. )

I agree with this! Poll for counting, comments for additional stuff. People can still comment even if they don't have more to say about their vote, but they need to make sure they have answered in the poll.

Great of you to consider asking your audience! IMO I think your idea of a poll/comment combo would be the best of all worlds. Polling also helps give more shy people a way to participate in a less stressful way, and comments are open for any discussion or suggested corruptions, which should help you tally up any plot twists much more easily!

I really like the way you're doing it now. It reminds me of a couple of postal rpgs I played in the last millenium. (I love being able to talk about things from the last millenium like I'm some sort of ancient cyborg). Personally I prefer commenting to polls, but not strongly. I'd participate in polls.

When you count separated posts it is possible for one person to vote for the same topic multiple times. While I get the idea and like the effort, I think that you should either only count the post with the most likes or the sentiment that got posted the most. Counting likes on duplicate will most likely result in the most common idea, instead of the most liked, to win. Cut off date sounds good! Love this whole system!

Are YOU able to go straight into the comments and add one for each option, and whichever one gets the most likes wins? Then we can all still make comments as suggestions, and if someone else's comment gets more likes than any of the standard options we go with that instead?

Wizerl

True, that could be the case too. It's hard to say how to count it properly as it is now, not everyone is gonna look through +100 comments to get the idea voted. Some will just comment same thing not knowing it's already there

shencomix

right, that's my main concern: that 2 different comments w/ basically the same thing will get like 8 and 7 different likes respectively, and then I ignore 6 ppl's preference by only counting the 8 one (with a +1 for the duplicate). BUT i think, judging from the comments on { 12 }, i have a distorted idea of how common duplicates actually are due to giving examples of twists in { 11 } and a lot of ppl just liking one of the examples and commenting it.

I love to comment on the posts, it feels like I'm participating more! But ultimately it's up to you, I don't mind really! :)

I love the comment system, but you do have a lot more Patrons now… NOICE! So if changing to polls makes it easier on you, I say go for it. Either way I’ll be leaving a comment. ꉂ ૮( ᵒ̌ૢꇴᵒ̌ૢ )ა。*゚✧ 💕

Why not poll and have comments for corruptions so you know what you option you are drawing for because it’s already locked in plus it will help with lore consistency depending on how long this goes for

Anonymous

You could also make the story more complex and almost like an rpg because you can implement an inventory system to give us more control but your still in control artistically always that option of do something else with an inventory item

I like the idea of polls for main options + comments for corruptions! Like it’ll keep the story moving forward while still getting peoples ideas in there. I think the idea of choosing a random comment every once in a while would be neat too, just to spice it up a little and keep everyone on their toes.
