It's wild how much time has changed, even since 2005 when this movie came out. "Brokeback Mountain" became a derisive slang term for "gay", "I wish I knew how to quit you" became a punchline. Definitely two straight dudes would not be admitting to watching this movie, or giving such a glowing review if they had. Up until this movie, the idea of a serious drama about a gay couple that was in no way played for laughs was unheard of, unless it was some tiny independent movie that no one saw. This played in the big cineplexes and people didn't know how to deal with it. We have truly come very far. As for the actual movie, I hadn't watched it in quite some time. It still moves a bit too slow for me, but there's no denying the incredible acting and cinematography. Heath Ledger fully deserved that Oscar.
