There's something that's been bothering me for a long time now: I still haven't found a good workflow to actually implement feature voting for those of you on the $3 tier and above.

I thought about somehow integrating Patreon with the Github issue tracker, where the feature requests currently live, but never found the time to actually implement that. I tried to do regular votes and surveys, but especially the latter added so much overhead that the last time I did this, I did nothing else for way too long time (though it DID provide a ton of valuable input that helped me prioritize!). I'm thinking about migrating feature requests to the community forums long term, now that we have access to things like the vote plugin for Discourse, but that's also something that will still take some time.

I really don't feel comfortable anymore with offering up a pledge tier which I'm simply not equipped to actually fulfill. So I've finally taken the consequence and unpublished said tier until I either do have the necessary infrastructure and workflow in place to implement it, or find something else to offer.

I'm sorry that I haven't managed to get that done yet and I can fully understand if those of you who are currently on the $3 level now reduce your pledge. In any case, as always, thank you for your support!

Cheers,

Gina

I just recently moved up to the $5 tier from $3, and honestly I don't think voting is necessary. I think if I just felt like my suggestions were being heard (I haven't actually made any, lol) in a private forum, that would always have been enough for me. I know that stuff takes a lot of time, so maybe if the $3+ people have a place to discuss/suggest features and changes , that would be sufficient.

Feel the same as Ricky. Also I view my $3 as a subscription to use octoprint, I won't be moving down a tier.

I moved from $2 to $3 last year because $2 is well under €2 which I felt was a bit mean! The forum gives a perfectly adequate way of making suggestions as well as asking questions and getting help. I don't really feel the need to vote on anything so I don't feel short-changed, I just want to make a small contribution to help Gina keep Octoprint going.

No issues for $3 from me, feels right for my usage.

Same, no worries Gina! Thank you for sharing your thoughts/concerns.

I don't use Patreon in order to get something in return. It's to support people who create content I think is worthwhile and that I want to keep being created.

I'm at the $3 level because that's what made sense to me. I'm an don-again off-again 3D printer. If I was doing ti more frequently, I'd give more. Losing the ability to vote on new features is not going to cause me to drop a level. If you are looking for ways to acknowledge this level, what about creating a section on the community forum where only those at or above a certain level have access? I suppose you could also give access to those who have contributed in other, non-financial ways, if that seemed appropriate to you.

I'm with Zoltan on this: I'm already getting my money's worth so to speak without anything other than using Octoprint almost daily or at least weekly basis. If I can help a person do commit their time to what they love doing, that is a reward by itself. I will move to another tier, but my 5 cents is that you could also keep the tier or merge it with others. Keep up the great work :)

I find the idea of a dedicated forum section interesting. What kind of topics would you expect to get discussed in there that isn't covered by the existing locations? Or are you really just looking for "your place" with some more visibility for your feature requests, questions and such? I have to admit that I cannot commit to giving personal support of some kind in such a forum because I fear it simply won't scale, but I'm open to other ideas :)

I'm sorry to inform you that I will not be reducing my pledge level as you requested. :)

I didn't even remember that we were supposed to be able to do that. I'm pretty happy staying at $3. Of course, I plan to increase that when I add more OctoPrint setups for more printers. I see it as an optional subscription fee that I get to choose.

Well, dear Gina, I think you are too modest, too self-critical, but other then that: you are great! So unfortunately for you, I will stay at the 3$ level, simply because I appreciate all the things you do for octoprint, for us, and because how useful your octoprint had grown to be for me. A word of warning however, when you continue to display this too self-critical attitude, I might consider to move from 3$ to a 5$ contribution, as mentioned: just to warn you! Don't worry, be happy...

I'm with the others, didn't sign up here for rewards, just giving back for something I use a lot. $3 works for me. Keep up the great work.

I'm with everyone else. I'm not on the $3 level because of the perks and I won't be dropping it down any time soon. Keep up the good work, and don't fret the minor stuff... :)

Yep, as all the others said, no headaches, all is well with 3$.
