OctoPrint On Air #11

The eleventh episode of a monthly dev log/Q&A session about all things OctoPrint for my Patrons on Patreon. This time pre-recorded due to scheduling issues. My Patrons can submit questions to answer during the Q&A session via a Google Form before and - usually ;) - also live during the broadcast via the chat. Expect more videos like that roughly on a monthly schedule. If you want to attend the live broadcast and ask questions beforehand or live on air, consider becoming a Patron on Patreon and selecting one of the corresponding perks - that will also help me with continuing to work on OctoPrint full time, which I love doing! Gina, first of all, thank you for all you do! Your time and effort are appreciated! I do have a question that I didn't get submitted early enough: do you have access to the new Prusa quad-filament extruder? I ask because I am excited about dissolving support material but it seems we would need some kind of custom support for it in OctoPrint to manage multiple filaments and extrusion temperatures. I do speak Python so would be willing to work on this on my own, if needed, though I am quite new to 3D printing.

I don't but - as far as I understand this hardware to work - all should already be covered within OctoPrint by the general multi-extrusion support contained therein. My guess would be that a printer profile with four extruders but a shared nozzle should already do it. If not, I need input from people with that upgrade to know what's missing

Fantastic! Mine is in the production queue and I'm expecting it "sometime" before September. I will try to put together a tutorial (at least) of what I learn trying to make it work.
